Target Center Performance We waited for the doors to open at the Target Center for about an hour. It was running late from the Macy's performance. But we didn't mind,we ate dinner in between the performances and chatted with some people. We were not able to purchase tickets for the First Ave after party earlier today,but we did find a ticket broker or scalper whatever you want to call him and he said he would have 2 VIP tickets in a few minutes, at $150 each. We had three in our party so we had to pass on it.
The concert started with Purple Rain with Prince and Wendy!    Oh lawd,I couldn't believe it! They are so comfortable when they play, you can just see it. The setlist is as follows:
Take Me With U Guitar Musicology Play That Funky Music The Cars-Nightlife? Satisfied(Yes Mr Hays took us to church!) Renato keyboard solo What A Wonderful World(Mike Phillips held that note for a mighty long,long,long time!!! Unbelievable!) Little Red Corvette(w/Wendy) Raspberry Beret(w/Wendy) The One U Wanna C(w/Wendy) Prince said he had to do a different version because he commmented that a girl looked like a bootlegger.  I was rolling on the floor with that one!
Then Prince said "One of my bestest friends in the whole world is here tonight", yes he was speaking about Wendy! Awww 
Sometimes It Snows In April(I lost it on this one and a few tears rolled down my face. It was very emotional for me.) 7 Come Together(Shelby,Wendy,Prince) Then Prince played the keyboards(There was a large mirrored heart in front of the keyboards...harkening back to SOTT): Do Me Baby I Wanna Be Your Lover How Come U Don't Call Me Intro to Diamonds & Pearls Cream U Got The Look If I Was Your Girlfriend Then Prince said, "It's alright call Ur radio stations, eye belong 2 U." Yes, go on and request Prince because they sure don't play him on the radio. I can't begin to tell you how awful Mpls radio is. Ughhh, I don't live here but we had the radio the on the last few days and it really stinks. 
Black Sweat(completely different arrangement and even better than the original)   Then Prince nodded his head like yes I know!
Kiss Let's Go Crazy A Love Bizare Crazy(Shelby) Nothing Compares 2 U Glamorous Life The concert ended at 12:10 and lasted approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes. Prince played his heart out as he always does,both with the Macy's and Target Center performances. However, the sound was muffled and the worst of any Prince performance I have been to. I don't think this is due to Prince,but just the acoustics of the Target Center. I loved it even with the muffled sound. There were many different styles of new t-shirts designed by Chelsea for sale at the concert. Most of the t-shirts were $45-$50 each. There was a very unusual abstarct one of Princes face,which I really thought was unique. Most of the t-shirts seem to run small. Another cool t-shirt was of Habibbi with Prince (letters in gold) and the lyrics to Guitar. The Chelsea Rodgers logo on the t-shirts is differnt, a combination of CR with the  
As we were leaving,the employees gave everyone a .25fl oz bottle of 3121!  We were some of the last people to leave and a very generous employee shared the wealth of 3121 with me,so there are a few people I will be sharing it with! I'll be chatting with you girls soon! Dig got your back!

Coming from someone that was too young to be able to enjoy Prince in the earlier days, it was cool as hell to see him play with Wendy! Even though our seats couldn't have been much further away from the stage, it was an amazing experience. It's just too bad the show couldn't have been at the Xcel like last time. Decent acoustics would've made it even better. Gotta love the Purple One...... | |

Did anyone notice how many pictures were being taken at the Target
Center show?? I couldn't believe it.. 
Here MY camera sat in our Car in the parking garage cause at almost ALL Prince shows they frisk ya.. but I didn't see ANY one being checked and we had people all around us using Camera's and no body stopped them. Maybe the Target Center was upset about the late start and thought WHAT THE HECK 
I hope some one got a video or at least a recording of the show. altho with the band sound it might not be so great.. lets see some of those pictures post~~ | |
