That "new album" fans will get for free at the upcoming UK concerts? Not so new, apparently

http://www.manchester.com...57954.html

Fans who buy a ticket for the 3121 tour will also get a copy of Prince's new album, also called 3121, as well as only paying £31.21 no matter where they buy a ticket for.

I looked at the article you linked, but I don't see the statement that the giveaway album will be 3121? confuse

I saw a mention of this in my local newspaper.I didn't wanna mention it here cuz I knew it would piss off alot of fans lol but yeah, apparently the "new" CD is indeed '3121'.Kinda silly, since most concert-goers would already have it!

The post at the beginning of this thread is a mis-quote and in no way deserves to be on the home-page of this site.

MANY different newspapers have made the mistake of printing that the album will be "3121" but they are all wrong.

THIS IS NOT NEWS

You say they are wrong?
Can you prove that they are wrong, or are you just hoping like the rest of us?

so if it's been reported in many different newspapers and all you have is your opinion that they're wrong, how is your opinion more valid as fact than the papers you've read?

okee doke, upon closer inspection, i noticed you all are right...there isn't a direct mention of the 3121 album being the freebie...this is what happens when i post news before i finish my morning coffee, folks. SORRY ABOUT THAT.

although, there HAVE been rumblings about this being the case, and if anyone can find an actual source, this little chestnut goes right back up on the main page...unless we can scrape up a source to the contrary. nod

meanwhile, let the discussion continue...

Because the MAJORITY of reports that were released on the day, immediately after the conference stated that the album was "as yet un-named".

Only as the day progressed and more reports came out the following day, this idea of it being "3121" started to surface.

that is becasue it dosn't say that it is:

Fans who buy a ticket for the 3121 tour will also get a copy of Prince's new album, as well as only paying £31.21 no matter where they buy a ticket for.

maybe they edited it out? as well as we get along... i do not think bart would edit the article.

The advertisment in the UK press stated the giveaway CD would be 3121. Either they got their wires crossed or it was just them being misinformed. Anyway who cares if it is 3121, he's entitled to give a copy away if he damn well pleases

.....contradictioN > fOR ME THE TRUTH IS HERE FROM THE STAR TRIBUNE!

"According to the Star Tribune (Minneapoliis newspaper) today 5/09/07:

Prince's NEW ALBUM is scheduled for release on July 7th. They are calling it the "Earth" album, although they do say the title is speculation at this point. So July 7th is the date, which is a Saturday, so its unclear how this will be distributed. My guess is we will find out soon more details of the album and the US leg of the tour. The band Smashing Pumkins also are releasing a new album on this date so the regular Tuesday release can be worked around. "

I agree with you, I REALLY don't see him giving out copies of 3121, be honest people, do you??
These news paper reports are written by people with no knowledge of Prince at all, and are making assumptions, based on the 3121 concept, and £31.21 price. I don't believe they know the truth, just clutching at straws.

Oh for Pete's sake, who cares what the giveaway CD is!?! It's FREE! I'm getting off at the notion Londoners can see Prince at the venue of their choice -- small, intimate club or bigger, glitzier arena -- for only £31.21! Have all the locations been announced?

The price is irrelevent. Most round here are excited by the prospect of having a NEW album, the the same old shit that's been knocking around for ages now. Just trying to get the facts right! cool

Well, to the extent it informs, we do now have some word that the new album will be called "Earth" and it'll have a July release. Also, in most of the places I've checked online, the tour itself is being billed as the "Earth Tour." I think we can ease up on feeling slighted and look forward to a great summer. biggrin

bit of a wierd one. It would make perfect sense to give out 3121 or an expanded version [i.e. remixed trax or live trax from the Vegas gigs]. BUT the 'tour' is called 'Earth' , there are a couple of new trax being played and above all else since when does P do logical marketing!. I'm 50/50 on this i.e. expecting a low key new CD [i.e. Xenaphobia, ONA Piano type] or just an expanded 3121.

argghhhh!! mad Some of us were debating this exact issue a couple weeks ago on the other thread. Myself, and a couple others were very hesitant to believe it would be a "new" album, but I thought we had finally put it to rest that it was. At least two articles mentioned "the as yet unnamed new album". And 3121.com also states "new" in the ad for London.
This is getting crazy....why won't he clear this up already?? The only thing we have that's official for 7/7 is the perfume release. neutral
Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"
They've taken a lifetime lease on Paisley Park ...music
