really, eversince I have seen him in Vegas, I really don't have to see him in larger venues anymore.....if he does a worldtour, I will probably sit that one out as well.....I couldn't be bothered for yet another greatest hits-tour with ridiculous ticket-prices.....can't wait until he's 65 and is playing shady jazz-clubs....

In reality is it a ridiculous ticket price or market price. Is he charging more than what most artist of his status charge for a small venue?

its ridiculous to me cuz its way out of my price range right now.
[Edited 3/25/07 14:35pm]

as far as I can recall, only the Rat Pack (Sinatra, Davis Jr. & Martin) charged more during their last tour.....

The Police are charging $220-$400+ for their premium seats and that's in a football stadium!

over here the best spots in the stadium for The Police cost 89 euros, which is probably about $105.....

I was just wondering around when I found this thread. Once I was done reading it I had to just say one this lady is really pathetic getting upset like that. I don't think a loon like that should be a member anyways. And if you feel that way about Prince than just get over the situation and move on. I get the principal but enough is enough. She a psycho...honestly. Given that in mind I don't think he would care if you ever listen to another song or went to another concert again. In fact the way you are he'd most likely be happy about it.

It's one thing to be upset about something but you are coming off really badly on this thread. You must be a joy to live with if this is your reaction to such petty things.

I don't really care how I'm coming off to you, I want what was promised. It's simply the principle, and nothing else.

maybe you need to consider your own incompetence for NOT READING the terms when you paid the $25. It was CLEARLY posted when you accepted the membership that it was for the lifetime of the CLUB not YOUR lifetime. It was repeated time and time again by the mods in the forums that it was for the lifetime of the CLUB not YOUR lifetime.

Maybe if you spent a little more time reading about what you are purchasing and less time slewing obsenities at people, you might actually get it. And yes, I am fully prepared for your backlash of obsenities to come and I assure you, it won't even make a bump in my day wink

Has any one stopped to think that the place of the venue is charging the outragous amount for him to play there. there is all the overhead for staffing etc.

Ok Ok now children...everybody just calm down! WOW! I was disappointed that NPGMC closed as much as anyone, but it's like people are saying...people will pay what they want and the market for the item will follow that lead...look at gas prices as a prime example...gas is as high now as after Katrina and no one has questioned why!!! we are all getting hosed by the big oil dudes and until we re-elect no-one our voices will not be heard!
now back to tix prices. ALL entertainment (sports, music, broadway, etc) is getting very expensive and as long as the SHEEPLE pay the price the rest can either join in or not participate. each person has a limit on what they will pay to be entertained...if it is out of your range..than I guess you won't go.
I saw Prince back in Jan at the Hard Rock in Fl (a friend gave me the tix as a birthday gift) She and I discussed what was a fair price and sat in the upper deck. I will always enjoy seeing Prince LIVE and will have to see what prices pop up to decide if I can afford it and justify the expense. going to a movie theatre is getting outrageous but sheeple continually go to see new releases.
It all comes down to your own personal spending habits and limits. Sheeple were paying 300 or so to see Madonna not long ago, I would never justify that expense, but I'm sure those who spent the money enjoyed the show.
Take a deep breath...now exhale...and relax...it's going to be ok!

pebblesbab has a point that will be used by the sponsors in order to justify the cost, and the fact that the cost of everything in San Fran is escalated, no one can really be sure. But I do agree that the ticket prices are getting out of hand. I'm sure citibank pulled P in after seeing the droves of fans and wannabees parading thru 3121 in Vegas and see this as an opportunity to make some cash. The other side of this may be that citibank just might be the promoters for an upcoming tour, and this is their test drive. Either way I don't like the corporate types taking control and seizing the opportunity to "possibly" rob us of our hard earned money by jacking up the cost of tickets just 2 see what will be the breaking point 4 the public, how much would we pay 2 see P perform live? Don't be surprised 2 see the tickets prices even higher..and the question remains..how much is too much, what is your breaking point?..As 4 the club...live and let die. I got my monies worth, as (from all the comments) I'm sure the majority also believe. I would like to have the club come back with pre sales for actual "Fans", and I would like to have this new club respect the ex NPGMC members with a discounted rate, or some additional perks. But even without these forementioned add ins, I would still become a member (depending on cost). But this remains 2 be seen...As for the upcoming show. I'm not going, based on the fact that he has performed here in San Fran, and the tickets were not this costly - harder to get, - but not this pricey.
must be something in the water they drink..

I am really pissed off right now. I'm reading the thread for the SF show. $225 fucking dollars for good seats?!!!

This is seriously ridiculous. Where's my lifetime membership that I was supposed to have? I feel like I've been raped or violated in some way, and definitely LIED TO.

Hey Prince, don't you think you've got enough money already? You make it clear to me year after year that you DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR FANS.

I have a right to say what I want to here people, and I'm not going to "go to another site" because of it.

I actually feel Prince can use & abuse me all he wants as long as he keeps blessing me with his music. 2 see him perform is worth every penny.batting eyes batting eyes

Oh god, here we go, semantics.

How do I explain this to you, NO REASON IS A GOOD REASON, when I was promised something. What part of that do you not understand? If there were some kind of legal issue, then open up another website with a different domain name. Are you ENTIRELY misguided or just slightly? I don't believe Prince and his secret shenanigans anymore. He is a messed up individual and needs to come back down to Earth.

I hear you. I had signed on to Prince's site and it closed three weeks later. I was able to cancel payment with my credit card company. I hadn't used the site for ANYTHING, no downloads, purchases, etc.
Someone here suggested I consider it a "donation".
It didn't make good business sense, particularly when he could have opened another site, after his attorneys checked for trademark infringements.
Communication was poor all around.

there was no trademark infringement. nature publishing group didnt have a trademark on npg (btw..its over copyright, not trademark). they simply filed an opposition to Prince obtaining a copyright of npg for selling things in print under the name npg because nature publishing group sells nature magazines under the name npg. wink

OK!!

I got two tickets for the Toronto Shows via npgmc. Lucky to get second row and paid $55 each. Cheapest general sale ticket was $75 each. So I got my money back in my first purchase of tickets!

Because of this and for the sake of world peace could you please send me your address and I shall put the $25 dollars cash in the post to you asap.

Maybe he just didn't want to open another site because the musicclub had become a logistical nightmare, especially when you have some rude, wacky, unappreciative fans critizing and whining about e'ry thing you. I wouldn't give them shit for free or at discount either. Just takes a few rotten apples. . .
