New Tips for the Aftershow? Quid pro quo
I went to 3121 for the NYE weekend and posted a lot of tips for the aftershow. Seems like the game has changed. I am taking my husband to the 2/17 show for his birthday. He was kind enough to leave the show early to get a table for the aftershow last time. I'd like to return the favor. Anyone have any suggestions of how early I should get in line? Cool, but I'm leavin' my pants on.

There was one person in line at 11:45 last time I went. And she was still the 30th person to be let in. So there is no telling what to expect regarding how many VIP people get in first. People also save spots for their friends inside the regular show so don't get mad if that happens. Get there early and hope for the best is all I can say. And you don't miss that much if you are in the other room. The band room is dark and you can't see much going on anyway.

I was told by a friend that u can just listen 2 the music from an adjacent waiting room if u don't care that u can't see, that's what i'm gonna do 'cause i'm in a wheelchair, i already know i aint gonna see shit anyway so i'm just gonna dig on the music. uh, as far as leaving the main show early, i dont think its worth it now w/ waiting on line and then VIPs just waltz right in in front of the waiting line, r u kidding me? i'd b ready 2 fuckin' kill everybody, think about it! i have 2 bounce 2 the bathroom at any time anyway so that how i'm gonna roll with it. hope this helped.

So now there's a VIP line for the aftershow? That sucks. Cool, but I'm leavin' my pants on.

I'm not sure what all this talk of a VIP line is about....it sounds like there is still just one line but more people being allowed to cut into it.
It does seem there were some changes this past weekend. I also posted full details of my experiences and have been carefully reading those since (hoping to get back one more time, like when money falls out the sky or I hit the lottery ). The overall vibe just sounds different now but I can't put my finger on it. It may just be that it was the first shows since the SB, so we'll see what this weekend's reports have to say. One new thing I noticed was the mention of people being allowed to purchase aftershow wristbands during the dinner hours. That all being said- I'd say skip the main show if you really want to get in the aftershow since it looks like you'd have to leave before 1am to be safe. Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

I just posted my experience from last weekend... the club seems to be always changing the rules and I found it to be frustrating and not well organized. I think they are trying, but one would think that after all this time, they would have a better system in place. To me if your going to pay $$ to get in to see Prince for his main show, leaving early makes little sense. If you can purchase the dinner package and pay the extra cash, you seem to get an automatic entry into the aftershow w/ little wait and certainly before anyone waiting who didn't see his main show.

I was at fridays aftershow party. Whilst we were in the 3121 Jazz earlier the hostess asked us if we wanted to go to the aftershow. Cost was $50 and that got us a wristband that enabled us to jump the line and we had assigned seating in the room.
I'm not sure how you can get the wristband without being in the resturant earlier.

hmmmm...i wonder if that is anyone who eats in the Cuisine or is it just if you get the VIP 5 course meal

I was there in the NYE-weekend and reading all this, I'm glad I don't have to go through all this anymore (since I'm not going anymore )..... It really sounds like the tricks of the trade have changed..... I got into the aftershows with just GA-tickets real easy back then!
Good luck to those who are going!

I'm not sure how you can get the wristband without being in the resturant earlier. I wish they had been doing that when I was there in January! I had the VIP package with dinner on the 19th and got no such offer and know that neither did other diners in the music room while I was there. Luckily we made into the aftershow on the 20th by skipping the main show. Wonder if they are doing that now to try and increase restaurant sales? The night I ate there it was probably less than 1/2 full betw. 8-10pm. [Edited 2/14/07 15:50pm] Ask where they're going, they'll tell U – "Nowhere"

Good luck to those who are going! I know, this all sounds stressful. I am glad I went last Friday. Also, I didn't pay for any dinner or VIP concert packages. I just had a ticket to the main show. Someone bought me dinner and I got wristbands from someone for the aftershow and sat with someone else with reserved seating at the afters show. I know some one else who didn't pay for packages who also didn't have to stand in line for the after show, but I also know some people who paid for the dinner package who didn't get offered to buy tickets to the after show, early. It all sounds selective or lucky. Either way, it sounds stressful. I think the bottom is falling out and maybe they are free styling until Prince leaves in March.

Good luck to those who are going! I completely agree with you. It was so different when I went on 12/8 and 12/9. Now it just seems to be a big headache - although it is well worth it! perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...
