1994. Everything else was spot on. Just a typo. Thanks for catching that. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

It was only released in a limited quanity, as per the deal Prince struck with WB. Keep in mind, he really didn't want the album released, and only did so as a negotiation to hav one more album towards getting out of his contract. I wanted to clear something up. I thought I read or heard somewhere that after the Musicology tour, he would not perform his "classics" aka "hits" anymore..? Can someone clear this up? This would make me very SAD if true. I mean I want (and intend) to see P live on his next tour (if it comes near me) and as great as that would be, it would still suck to think..he'd do no hits. Whats the story? Maybe I'm confused. I hope I got this wrong. Sorry, but he's been playing his hits for 20 years, if you haven't had enough, collect bootlegs. There is WAY much more to his catalog then just When Doves Cry and Kiss. I'd love to hear JOINT 2 JOINT live or 5 WOMEN or I LIKE IT THERE or THE CONTINENTAL or other obsure stuff. He has a lot of music, this hits shouldn't be the only reason to see him live. Agreed, but you have to keep in mind that probably 60% or more of a concert crowd are going to be casual fans, newbies or non-fans. For those people, they want to hear his big hits. Personally, I'D rather hear obscure stuff, but I have to admit that I'm in the minority. i think he did a good job on the ONA tour of mixing hits in with non-hits and new stuff. really, i don't care what he does, as long as it doesn't go too far in the direction of the NAACP vanguard performance. don't get me wrong, i enjoyed it (and i think sheila KILLED), but i'm not a fan of the free-for-all soul revue thing. i go to a prince concert, i wanna see prince front and center. save the jam session for the aftershows. that's just me, though.

id MUCH rather hear the rarer, obscure stuff P's done through his career i wish in some ways he would put the hits 2 bed..

I think as a Prince Fan. I cant tell what a "hit" is and what one isn't one.
I'd say 90% of the 20,000 Fans at all the different concert arenas think the same way. now, I was Prince I'd do one thing! I'd for the Encores play the Purple Rain's of the world so people will leave the place happy. Play everything in the show that he wants, but on the encore, plays some radio hits.

Im sure there can only be a certain amount of times we listen to him play Raspberry Beret. If he never plays some of his hits live again would be a very good thing. http://www.goldiesparade.co.uk/ - Prince discography, tour history, news and more.

I agree. I've been binging on P music for the past few months... videos/bootlegs/etc... i have to tell you, I"m getting tired of hearing the same stuff over and over (a lot of the bootlegs are from the 80s)... I can only imagine what it must be like for him to play them over and over and over and over... he must be sick of himself... I recall that interview last year he said that people are wanting him to play the hits, he understands that, but he can't play them in the same way... he said, "they have to remember, I was there playing it".. Come here, babe.. yeah...

My two cents: By saying he won't play them anymore, he can free up a lot of other gems he wants to play live that were never on the radio. He'll play a few hits here and there like on ONA Live but few and far between.
I think he was simply easing the general population into a new phase so he doesn't feel compelled to play the hits all nite during an arena show with 15,000 screaming fans. In fact, if I was a betting man, he will probably play the first half of a tour without one radio hit just to make his point and throw a few hits in with subsequent shows. [Edited 7/13/05 12:29pm] ----- "He would never perform any of the songs from Diamonds & Pearls Live without Rosie Gains"---cream was performed on multiple occasions. He said he would not perform Diamonds and Pearls without Rosie. The song it self not that he would not do songs from the CD. Have you heard One Nite alone Live?
