LIVE AID II

Sir Bob Geldof has set a date for Live Aid II

according to reports. The charity gig is expected to take place on the weekend of July 2 and 3 and will be staged at London's Hyde Park.According to the Sun newspaper the event will be called Live 8 - in reference to the G8 Summit taking place in Scotland on July 6.

Sir Bob wants the gig to be free and hopes it will put pressure on G8 leaders to vote to end poverty in Africa.

The annual Prince's Trust Party in the Park concert was due to be staged on the same day - but that has now been postponed.

The concert is supporting the Make Poverty History campaign, spearheaded by British film director Richard Curtis.

The ex Boomtown Rats frontman is hoping to perform at the gig.

A source told the newspaper's Bizarre column: "Geldof has taken on one of the biggest projects of his life with this - but it's a brilliant idea."

It sounds like a pretty big deal, i'd say that theres a good chance prince might play

That's fuckin' cruel and hilarious! I used to get them mixed up too. It's the hair. Or maybe it's their penchant for auto-erotic affixiation.

Well, there's a global frame of mind! lol

Not to turn this into a political thingy but given that much of the poverty in Africa is a result of crippling repayments of loans to American banks, I'd say it's just a little too late for the old US to stay out of this particular world problem.

I do agree with you though that Prince should not turn up - he didn't bother his arse last time around, so it would be a case of too little too late. Besides, who wants to see Prince share an event with 30 other bands and only get 20 minutes on stage.

If you really believe that Live Aid was a rip off and that Bob Geldof is just out to make a name for himself, then I suggest you post that statement over in the P&R forum. Half of them will explain to you how wrong you are, and exactly why you are wrong, and the other half will pray for your soul for thinking such things. Both of which you really, really need.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.
