I still can't believe that he is letting people into the soundcheck - I figured the first show was a fluke - but he is keeping his promise and that is commendable. The seating situation is a shame though, but if something didn't happen to piss you off before/during/after the show, then it would not be a true Prince show - I have good/bad stories for all of my shows. Would like to go to the Vegas concert, but that is a lot of money just to get into a fist fight.....thanks to all the folks who post details about the concerts. Prince and Tom Jones doing a show together - now that's one I would not miss!

Did you all get a ticket a will call?.... or just a pass?
I think I would miss saving my ticket stub.

At the shows I went to in a different city, there were about 10 men and women all wearing "Event Staff" jackets doing the frisking and searching. They were professional and knew what they were doing. Yes, it's the venue staff that handles door security (although they may be following guidelines given by Prince's people). At the Indianapolis show, all of the door security folks that I saw were male, and they were frisking both men and women. Having men patting down women is, IMHO, asking for trouble. Had my wife been with me, I would have asked them to provide her with a female frisker. As for having "professional" pat-downs (to the extent that they can be professional--I've already expressed my views on that), the following guidelines should be in place: 1) The frisker will ask permission before touching the patron. (Without consent, it's called "battery," which is both a crime and a tort. That means you go to jail and get sued in civil court.) 2) Men will not frisk female patrons. (Why invite trouble?) Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

no, i think somebody needs to explain to YOU the fuckin meaning of general admission... general admission is FIRST come first serve.... which means if i get there for that soundcheck and i get my seat, and you don't get there until a few hours later- that seat is still my seat because i was there FIRST... it would be like seeing someone walk out to the bathroom and you leap over 5 rows and jack their seat... that's disrespectful... i didn't stand there all day to have someone take my muthafuckin' seats... A) Ok, picture this, you're at a dance club, the teeny bopper behind you vomits all over the floor, everybody leaves so they can clean it up. Then everyone walks back, some dude is dancing in your spot. Are you gonna fight him? B) Its nothing like going to the bathroom and having someone jack your seat. It was security that herded everyone out, not your bladder. If someone did pop in your seat as you went to pee it would be a different story and wrong. I don't see this as the same thing. The two best parts of the show, in my opinion, was the Santana Medley and Family Name. The man proves he's second TO NONE when it comes the guitar. It was funny, cuz Prince does 'Family Name' and Chas is the only one in the place jammin to it. Then Prince goes right into 'Take Me With U," and everybody else starts jammin. Am I the only one who likes anything offa the new album? greedy and blind... where i was standing, everyone was jamming to that song... i jammed harded to that song than any other song of the night... it was without doubt the highpoint of the evening...
You accuse me of being greedy? Did *I* take your seat? I was in the 2nd to last row of the NPGMC area... Nobody was asking for my seat. The same seat I paid for. I wanted nothing more than a seat the concert. How is that greed? As for 'Family Name,' where *I* was standing I just saw people standing there. Maybe they were concentrating really really hard on the lyrics or something. I call it like I see it.

Taken DIRECTLY from the npgmc website: All members can now buy concert passes 2 the tour directly from the MEMBER RETAIL section 2 days b4 the general public. Just buy the pass from r site and pick it up at Will Call the night of the show starting at 5pm. These concert passes will get u in2 the NPG Music Club Section at the concert which will cover the first 15 rows (or closer depending on presale volume) of the concert venue. All seats within this section will b GENERAL ADMISSION and u can get ur seat starting right at the soundcheck. Read that last sentence twice, OK? Done, but all bets are off when the very people who make that rule pull you out then tell you to go back in. Right or wrong, thats the way they did it. Yes it was wrong, and I'd be pissed off too. But be pissed at NPGMC or the Woodruff security. Not some jackass who has a different opinion of the situation. It may be hard for you to believe or comprehend, but occasionally, people have differing opinions. Read *THAT* last sentence twice, OK? The point is moot now anyway, it was all fixed the second night, and if anyone's experience was diminished because they were 3 and half feet further away from the stage than in the soundcheck, they weren't going to enjoy the show anyway.

Apparently "nobody 'splained" to you (or you didn't bother to read) the system that the NPG Music Club established for these shows. Get a clue and play by the rules, or at least admit that you are breaking them and stealing seats from others who were there first...sigh... Although, I don't really blame you for your ignorance (even though your arrogance at thinking you know what is going on is pretty funny). Prince's organization ultimately gets the blame for not being organized and not having someone out there to sort things out. Oh well, I got my seat back in the 2nd row, but I do feel bad for those who were screwed out of theirs. How do you know I was stealing seats? How can I steal a seat I paid for? Nobody asked for my seat. I was in the rear of the NPGMC section. I read the rules NPGMC established for the shows, it didn't say anything about if THEY pull you out you're getting the same seat you had before. If somebody would've shown me a ticket that said row 5 seat 6 and 7, I would've moved. Its OK, I don't really blame you for your ignorance of whats going on.
Well, then you weren't part of the problem, but a few others were. I'm sure 95% of the club members were cool about it, but the other 5% caused a mess. But I agree that it is the NPGMC that gets most of the blame/responsibility for the mixup. I don't understand why they don't have a representative there to quickly address these types of issues when they arise. That being said, the NPGMC has been a major bargain this year with the admission to the soundchecks and aftershows. I just got back from the 1150 club aftershow. All you had to do was flash your laminate and you got in free PLUS they had the area in front of the stage roped off just for NPGMC members. I was very impressed and happy.

To give just a few more details, he played from 12:35 to about 2:10. Some of the songs performed were: Extraordinary 777-9311 (just instrumental) Other Side of the Pillow The Ride Everlasting Now Alphabet St. Ballad of Dorothy Parker There was a lot of jamming going on as usual at the aftershows. The trombone player didn't have the attachment to go on the end of his trombone, so he had to use a plastic cup instead. During Ballad of Dorothy Parker, Prince said something about getting "a Coca-Cola and pouring it on his staff". I guess he wasn't happy with them about something. I know that he had some problems with the guiar sound and Najee couldn't get one of his saxophones to work at all. It was a fun aftershow of course, but I enjoyed the last one he did at 1150 (a tour or two ago) even more. But the NPGMC perks were awesome.

No one ever did anounce that there wouldn't be a party. yeah, if you hung around long enough, this middle-aged guy who was with prince's crew came out and said that we all needed to leave because there would be no afterparty... i was a little disappointed because i live 4 hours away, and there was no way that i'd be able to go to the thursday night afterparty... but anyway... i hope the people who who were that had a great time... Hi there,
On behalf of those of us who were accused of "STEALING" seats. I would like to say...im SO SO Sorry for your inconvinence. I know that the 5 to 10 ft. difference in where the seats were must have been a real strain on the eyes trying to see the stage. When the soundcheck was over I got up and went to get a cocktail and use the restroom...leaving one of my 2 new friends from Knox. (hope you got back to Knox, in less than 7 hours) in our seats. When I came back downstairs we saw that everyone had been ordered out of the Hall. So we wait in line and go back in. Once we do we go down and find a seat. Understanding the definition of "GENERAL ADDMISSION" we sit down. Not in the front row center, but in seats a few rows back. Thats when all the BITCHIN started. We had the 1st 5 rows researved for us...they were ALL great seats. It wasn't like we seperated friends, we just went in and sat down. After a few minutes a couple of NOT SO friendly ladies informed us we were in THEIR seats...we had no ticket stubs, we had NO assigned seats, but these seats belonged to these ladies. So after a little bitchin from them...we offered to get up and switch and move back one row and 4 seats over. (We were the people that got a round of applause when we got up) to find out someone had moved into the seats that we were going to get....SO, we said we were not giving up our seats if we couldnt get the we had at the begining and sat back down. That is when the cry babies called a cop over to "remove" us from these seats. Anyway, we ended up NOT in our original seats and we did NOT call the cops to move someone. We were all there to have a good time. Maybe if you go to a few more concerts you will learn what GENERAL ADMISSION is all about. Until then...I hope you enjoyed the show and enjoyed your seats. This was my 10th PRINCE show so I guess you needed to be 5 feet closer. Have a great day.....

All Im saying, is the whinners made a much bigger deal about it than it needed to be. I tried to do the right thing, and still got screwed out of my seat too....but you didn't see me call a cop over. Its all good...we all had fun and saw a great show.

i didnt hear anything announced or handed out after the show He said it during the discussion part of the soundcheck. He asked the group, "Where should I play?" Everyone was yelling something different. The guy behind me yelled "Strokers!" I guess thats a titty bar. Most people yelled 1150. I heard that it was all set up beforehand, so i'm sure he was just dicking with us.
