NPGMC please help me!!!!

I am nearly going insane reading all the reports of this amazing tour whilst being stuck over here in Australia.

Please somebody help me out of my misery by doing me a big favour and ask Prince at the soundcheck whether he intends to bring the tour to Australia.

Pretty please.
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

I think that a few shows in that part of the world should be considered. I was reading that The Rainbow Children sold very well in Japan.

I think some club shows in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand would go over well. I think it's been about 10 years since he last went there.

Batdance

If he lost money on the trip, that would probably be the last time he would ever go to Australia. It's expensive to haul personnel and equipment that far.

I think some research would have to be done to see how many copies of his last couple of albums have sold in Australia to see if there is a big enough demand for him to do 2-3 shows to make the trip worthwhile.

Well, if he's going to Australia & Japan, he better make a pit stop here in Honolulu!

Don't believe the hype. I have listened to the boot of the Chicago show and I was bored out of my mind. The first 55 minutes are brutal. I remember reading good reports of the Hit and Run shows too, and then I saw it and well it was shit.

I honestly believe that people are just trying to convince themselves that the shows are good and worth the $150. Paisley Park on a Friday night is the only good place to see Prince anymore because he isn't really worth more then $7.

So, Lovemachine. You listened to the bootleg. Great!
And you think you can comment based on that experience. You silly, poor thinkin' fool (and I'm nice now). Don't say a word until you've actually been there. If you have some experience in life and (prince)music, you will acknowledge that this show is something completely different and more or less brilliant indeed. (The thought of comparing it to the hit&run tour... my god where is your sense?)
Shut the **** up and stay put until you join the ride. Then try to say something meaningful.
It's definetly not about money, it's about witnessing and enjoying something special.

Well Art ... I was there for the 3 warm-up gigs at Paisley Park so I have seen 80% of the show. The only thing I haven't seen is the piano medley. And Art...how many more times do you think I've seen Prince then you? I've seen several hundred shows, and you?

hey lovemachine, why don't you take your sorry tired ass home and just shut the hell up? if you think the man is only worth $7 to see then certainly you're wasting your time on a fansite....by the way, I feel extremely sorry for someone who has become so bored and jaded with life that he/she thinks this show was not worth $150 - it was worth $1000!!!!!

Worth a $1000, huh? Well that's just silly. So the best tickets at the Jam of the Year were what? I'll tell you; $45 for "Purple Circle" tickets. Prince at least tried to put on a stage show, on this tour has tripled the price of the tickets and is doing nothing besides playing the music. There is no stage show and no energy level being displayed.

What happened to the energy level of the JOTY. I was a little tired of the greatest hits set-list, but these days I'm a little tired of the lack of energy that he is showing. Think about what made the Lovesexy, SOTT, ACT 1, Nude, Etc. tours so great? ... it was the extreme energy level. We are not getting that anymore. Why do you think that most of the people in the building are sitting throughout most of the shows? He is giving no energy so they aren't returning any.

Granted he plays as well as anyone out there, but he has really put together a show to make himself money. With the minimal stage set he is probably putting on the cheapest to produce tour of any major star, but at the same time he is charging the most money. Doesn't make much sense.

But at the same time, I'm happy for the people who are enjoying the show, but I believe that if they had been around for as long (and seen as much)as I have they would not be as hyped.

Nobody can touch Prince as a live performer, but I (and I repeat "I") do not believe that this tour is all that everyone seems to be saying it is.

Lovemachine is getting all of this info from listening to a bootleg of the show? Until you've been there you can't possibly know what it is like. I was at the Buffalo show and I was blown away by it. Just playing music? Isn't that what we're there for? But Prince also comes across as someone that is so happy doing what he's doing up there and that joy spreads right out to all of us. He's pulling people out of the audience to dance on stage with him. I don't need to see him swinging from the rafters or anything. Plus, this show is a bit more mature and jazzy. The keyboard solo by Renato on Rainbow Children alone was worth my $$$.

Jimmy Buffet once wrote "Don't try to describe the ocean if you've never seen it". Another verse was "Don't try to describe a KISS concert if you've never seen it". So true. I've only seen Prince on the Jam of the Year tour and that was boring as hell compared to this one.

Just my opinion.

Hi there lovemachine!

Maybe I was a bit rough on you in my first response. Altough I still think you can't judge something when you haven't actually experienced it. Especially a 'live' concert.
I started on SOTT-tour and was electrified. Trough the years, especially during the nineties, I more and more longed for a concert where the music was the key thing. The show-element was great, but became more and more a trick and lacked true creativity. The music was there, but more as a part of the total show. Never the most important. At least that's the way I experienced it.
With TRC the album something truly new has been started. There is new musical and creative energy. Indeed the music matured. As did Prince. I have the feeling that he himself went into a new period where the music, much more than the entertaining/show element, is the most important thing. Me personally am very glad with that.
This current tour he displays that attitude. He's just playing music. Thank God.
About the energy that he is not giving according to you. You're definetly wrong. I'm listening to the Chicago boot right now and feel the same thing I felt during the DC-show. Because I've witnessed that show I can 'refeel'what I felt then. He is giving me more energy than he did in a long time. Musical energy, that is. (For me) so much more important than entertaining energy. And he is still a performer at top level. Look at his face and his gestures. See what he does to the crowd (so again GO THERE!).
You, the guy who has been so lucky to see the preparations at Paisley Park, I wonder what you're really long for. Maybe this is possibly not for you. But it's no hype and no phoney. Believe that.
About making money. It's something I don't know the truth about. He has always been 'a little strange'with money. I don't know maybe he's making big money with this one. I actually don't think so. But even if he does. It's ok with me. And ok I paid more money than for some other artist (especially me, coming all the way from Holland). But I didn't feel dissapointed.

So, ok that's it.

Prince fans are a strange breed then tend not to read everything in posts before responding. Prince fans also do not like to hear negativity about their hero.
