Essence

Alexander O'Neal/Bilal live

Alex@Grimsby Auditorium was HOT. He had a tight band and brought it like only he can at this show (One of a 41 date UK tour). Two bad things though... one he didn't do my favourite Alex joint "Sunshine". He did basically all the other hits though (bar Crying Overtime. Set was uptempo biased).

And even worse were the support acts from 8pm-9.30pm, a Britney Spears pop idol reject wannabe called "Lydia" did EIGHT MUTHAFUNKING SONGS! She was like "This is R&B song I wrote" cuz she had to tell us genre cuz u wouldnt know otherwise and then she sang Mariahs "Hero" and murdered Boyz II Men "End Of The Road". All eight full songs n sat there cringing thru all.

Then three teenagers came out and mimed Take Thats Relight My Fire so I went and stood at bar til they finished their 7/8 songs. haha

If anyone gets the chance to go and see this master showman do so.

His new album "Sagas Of A Married Man" (Produced by and on Bobby Z's label) is now out and available at:

UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/e...84-9183800

USA (on import): http://www.amazon.com/exe...29-7237500

Bilal was superb night before at Shepherds Bush Empire too, hes really fresh and a great showman, brings a special vibe with his tight band. Check him live if you can and also give his debut album "1st Born Second" a listen.
