DC NIGHT ONE--THE GOOD, BAD, UGLY AND SUBLIME I won't bother too much with the setlist, since it pretty much stays the same...but here are the high and low lights:
The good-- 1. Initially I was a little peeved that my NPGMC seats weren't on the floor, but rather 4 rows up, level with one the walkways, right between Blackwell and the Horn section. But, since this was the main area where Prince went underneath to change, and seeing JB work the drums up close..i changed my mind and loved them. I would have been more mad to be in row 1 or 2 on the floor because it looked really hard to see what was happening the 75% of the show he wasn't standing on your walkway. 2. Gave a quick R.I P. to Rick James (warmly received) 3. acoustic set included When Will Be Paid, Adore and bluesy song i never heard before (Trouble in my House..or something like that..kinda humorous). the acoustic set lasted waaaay longer than it did at the opening at Staples Center..would say 30 minutes or more, at least. 4. The first 2 ladies invited on stage were BBW's (big beautiful women)... 5. The crowd was very much into the whole show (although I knew to take a whizz when Renato "Doctor Octopus" Neto did his solo. 6. Threw in Pass the Peas and the Freaks on This Side chant (who's hatin' on NPS!!) 7. Did a freestyle kinda rap (with props to The Roots the Tipping Point)... did a hard dis on Warner Brothers (repeated this line twice!!!)...Old Prince can rap!!! The Bad 1. Prince lost his earpiece for a few minutes...we saw it come off..he eventually found it. 2. Encore of Call my Name and Purple Rain--the crowd wanted more, of course. The Ugly 1. Seated in FRONT OF US were these Section 8 ghetto heiffers who didn't even pay for their damn tickets!! They were from some kind of camp or something for underpriveleged kids, because these little disinterested brats were taking up seats SLEEP!! I mean these were some straight up South Compton hoodrats who knew all of 3 songs. I'm all for letting the disadvantaged kids into the show for free..but DAMN..I paid $150 for two tickets to hear Shalaylay and Monifah talk about punching the bitch 3 rows behind us for being a little pissed about being sandwiched in between these rugrats. 2. Prince held the microphone to one the first ladies on stage and asks her about Rhonda's bas playing and she says "she is playing that SHIT!" Prince had this look on his face of course..and she then corrected her self. 3. Prince missed his own cue when he called for Maceo and Greg to come on stage prematurely, but he caught himself (I forgot my place!!) The Sublime 1. I saw more of Chance's ass up close and personal than i needed to when he doing Beyonce's 'Crazy in Love Dance!! 2. One of the 20 or so females on stage had on black shorts, a black and white zebra striped top and a pastel plaid hat..we were like..eww..that doesn't match I had a great time...not the very best Prince show I've ever seen..but it was great to see the big crowd really into the show. We had a blast!! Good Night!! [This message was edited Fri Aug 13 1:08:36 2004 by meltwithu] you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

They were on the floor row 2, but I traded with someone to sit with my wife in row G, which was better. I could see essentially everything that went on. Great show.

That was a good post becaue like you said we all pretty much know the set list but what about that song he sang to his wife! that was sooooo cute. Something about "trouble in my home".
I actually had front row seats in section 6 but my boyfriend was sitting in the stands so i decided to exchange my FRONT ROW seats with some strangers just to sit next to my boyfriend! Chile, now you know that's LOVE!!! I saw the ladies with the WHACK hats that got up on stage. But what was worse was the lady with the see throw silver top on our side. Who, by the way, had on NO BRA! The good: the "trouble in my home" song The bad: Somebody passing gas in my section The sublime: No bra lady! hahahhaa 1 Thessalonians 5:23

I agree with all you said. Only I thought see-thru top girly was ROCKING! She was dancing like she was gonna get paid! LOL! I was in section 1 Row K. Not too close but not too far. I LOVED the show. To me, Prince didn't just give us a course in Musicology, he is showing entertainers how it is DONE! This is how a concert should go. Note to all rock stars and musicians who are reading my post (because I know you were waiting... MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE THE SONGS WE AS FANS LIKE! WE WANT TO SING/DANCE ALONG WITH YOU TOO! : ) Sounds simple but I'm surprised at how many entertainers forget this. Okay I'm off my soapbox. The Good: Watching Prince in his element...HE OWNS the stage Prince's THIGHS in that white outfit...GOOD LAWDY! That BAD Electric blue suit contrasting so perfectly with his purple symbol guitar Stopping in the middle of his acoustic set to point out the girl drinking TWO beers...(priceless!) Cream the acoustic version(I really do sing that to myself in the mirror...how'd he know!?) The symbol tattoo on the small of the back of the girl two rows ahead...made me wanna go get inked : ) Prince's superior GUITAR playing...OMG he is a genius! The Bad: 1. "See-thru top" lady pretending to be bashful when Prince gave her a chance on the mike. How "contarded" can you be??? Dat's why he didn't let her try again. 2. the wet floor in front of us so I couldn't take off my shoes! The ugly: 1. That big FUR hat on the other chick next to plaid/stripe lady (sorry I'm just hatin cuz I'm jealous ) "Everybody needs a thrill
Pop life We all got a space 2 fill Pop life Everybody can’t be on top But life it ain’t real funky Unless it’s got that pop Dig it"

Wow. Sorry for the part of your report that wasn't so pleasant. I really had a GREAT time. My only regret is that I did not get tickets for Friday and Saturday.
Yeah, and Prince DID put that unruly young lady in check without even having to TELL her she was so out of order. She pulled herself in and then rephrased her statement when she saw Prince's face. After about 2 minutes, she was too tired to keep dancing anyway. Prince looked nice in EVERYTHING he wore. Of course there may have been one or two little mishaps, but's that's to be expected with a live show. The end result was generally summed up in his statement "This tour has been perfect - and I am blessed to be able to be on this tour" That's what really matters. God Bless

Now, you and I must be from the same old school because heifer is one of my favorite words when I have to cuss out a young, immature, ignoramous female.

Yes, that IS priceless! the sad thing is she had 2 SODAS (not beer)..they were in the red cups...she was maybe 20 feet from us..she was telling him it was soda..but it was alllll good!! yeah that chick in the Green Grinch Hat (that didn't even match her outfit)..i know her weave was rotten after that lol (just kidding) and what was up with him throwing sweaty tissues into the crowd? I don't know if i'd be fighting over them..but he wiped the sweat off one of the 2 first girls and threw it in the crowd...now fighting over his sweaty tissue is one thing...fighting over some pedestrian chick is another ONA was definitely better IMHO...this was very casual Prince-fan friendly concert...although I kinda got little rushes (WWWBP, Freaks on This Side) you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

I swear I saw him throw something at the girl who turned down his offer to dance on stage. Then I saw her throw something back. Did anyone else catch this? I don't know why she turned him down. Maybe she was on the rag and leaking or something.

I saw him throw something at that girl too! I'm not sure what it was but he looked a bit pissed.

My friend tells me it was her big boyfriend that held her back from dancing on stage. I can see why Prince would throw a snot rag at him for that.

I remember when he did that. So her boyfriend wouldn't let her on the stage? One of the women who was on stage, her boyfriend (Husband?) let he go and she was fine.

Don't get me wrong. I thought the ONA show was awesome too. Just this one cranked much harder. Only the Lovesexy show is better to me. My wife thinks this was his best concert.

What kind of person wouldn't let their loved one make a memory for a lifetime? My wife's been smiling all day...asking me "Did I look stupid?" etc. After I say "yes," we have a laugh and shake our heads that it happened. I hope some other lucky ladies have fun tonight, too.

My wife thinks this was his best concert. I feel you. I thought both were great, but to me, ONA was the best tour of the last decade. Due to it being a large arena tour, the sound in the present tour can't compare to the sound in the smaller theatre environment. Places like the MCI Center are not designed for music, they are designed for sports. The sound is therefore very muddy, whereas the sound in the Warner Theatre was utopian. Also, due to him needing from move between all four corners, he doesn't get to play instruments on this tour as much as he did on ONA. I also think the song choices and arrangements on ONA gave the band members more room to stretch and improvise a little. Don't get me wrong, Musicology is a great tour... I just view the ONA tour as perfection for the more hard-core fan. I think this tour is better for the casual fan. No Candy 4 Me
