My millenium has officially been MADE. The concert was amazing, I was right up front, The Time opened up....I was ecstatic. The night only continued to get better. My friend and I hopped on over to the afterparty at Excalibur. I met some awesome people, danced my booty off, but the best part.....I was taking a break from dancing, sipping on some ice water, and doing some people watching. All of the sudden, I turn around and Prince is standing right in front of me!!!! It was amazing - this man whom I have been so inspired by for most of my life was standing right in front of me. As he walked past me, he lightly brushed up against me. I turned to him and said "Thank you so much". He looked right at me and gave me a big ol' smile. That smile (and those eyes! mmmmm) that I've been so familiar with for so many years was suddenly inches from my face and directed right at me. The simplest gesture, but oh my god.....I swear, I'm going to be fantasizing about it for quite a while.

sigh....if only I had the money to check out some shows in other cities. I would in a heartbeat.

Still can't believe my feet are holding up. I was dancing my a$$ off ever since The Time hit the stage, and I only stopped for a few quick ice water breaks at the club. I have to say that I am DAMN proud of myself for keeping up my insane energy all night long.

My only complaint of the evening is the stupid section we were in. I think we had all of the most boring people in the arena in my immediate area of section 4. I felt like a big ol freak. I definitely got a few "damn; is she on speed?" looks during the evening. lol

And he did "17 Days"!!! biggrin No "Beautiful Ones", which I was really hoping for, but after the amazing evening, I have no choice but to forgive him for skipping it.

I have to say that the pizza thing disturbed me a bit. I knew that he had done this in other cities, but it didn't happen at either of the 2 Chicago shows that I went to before tonight. He must not be vegan anymore; it just bummed me out because I remember how he spoke about his veganism in the past; it seemed so important to him, and the way that he decribed what it had done for his life in a spiritual sense is something that I could totally relate to. There's no way in hell he'd be feeding other people cheese if he were still a vegan - not unless he's suddenly started hating his fans. I'm not looking at this in a disapproving way - more just sadness because it seems that he gave up something that was once so important to him and gave him so much peace and joy.

Eh.....It was still the best night ever!!!!! biggrin

Hey, ya'll! I'm flying back to the Wess Coass 2day. The one prob I had with the show, was my physical condition. As yesterday wore on and the concert neared, I started 2 experience back problems, The high of the concert helped me through the pain, but standing, much less shakin my groove thang, was difficult. At the first show, I was shimmyin' all night, and I wanted 2 get my groove on lass night, too. I had medication going through my system and an adhesive hot back patch on. I am a True Funk Soldier, 4 sho!

I gotta get through 2 flights and a ride through rush hour traffic 2night, just 2 rest my brittle bones razz

Some1 came up 2 me at the show when they saw my red hat, not sure who that might have been, as we didn't really introduce each other. I looked for the V-E-G-A-N in black on the other side of the stage after The Time got done, but no dice.

Kellyann,

As someone who couldn't attend the show last night, I'm just energized by reading your story! I'm so excited that you were face to face with Prince last night! How amazing for you...and cool that he acknowledged you in a friendly way. (I always feel bad when I read about people who meet their idols/heroes/inspirations and are treated in a negative way...it disillusions...)

I KNEW KNEW KNEW that something would happen last night JUST BECAUSE I couldn't go. Sure enough...The Time..."17 Days." Oh well...thank U Prince for the three shows I did get to see! They were still awesome!

That was me, but let's keep my identity on the downlow.
cool

I'm not a vegan. I don't eat land animals, but the sea and I are the best of friends. I'm what society calls a 'flexitarian' (vegetables and seafood but no land animals or dairy). I just say, I am me and you are you as long as you are doing things that aren't hurting others then it's cool with me too.

The world needs to stop labeling people and maybe we can get to a point of oneness.

Safe journey back to Portland? or Seattle? Funk4Ever!

Mad Props to Prince for performing my favorite song from the "Graffiti Bridge" album, 'Elephants and Flowers.' What a send off!

Did anyone else notice how tired Prince seemed when he performed 'Purple Rain?' He sort of REACHED (more than arm's length) over and dragged the mic to his mouth to sing the first verse. At one point he had to shake his left hand while he was playing the guitar solo. Prince was feeling the crowd and I think we drained his energy yesterday. I also noticed tears in his eyes when he came towards section 5 and 7 towards the end of the show and bowed.

Thank You, Prince. And Thank The Universe for Prince!

I didnt look at it that he was tired ..the way I read it was he was emotionally spent ..he had given so much and like he was lingering as if he didnt want it to end. I thought I saw tears in his eyes on the big screen during Purple Rain ...when he kind of held his head and said something like "I dont want it to end". Incredibly awesome night...so much energy was in the house.

nod oh, but he did do it at the previous chicago shows - at the saturday show, to be specific. mr.green

and yeah, i did wonder about the whole vegan thing w/ regards to the pizza...at least there was no meat on it, but there was plenty of cheese on it.

of course, he didn't eat any of it himself. confused

Well, he did mention in an extremely recent interview that he doesn't eat meat, so I don't think that'll change anytime soon. It just bummed me out, because being a vegan myself, I know all about that amazing feeling of inner peace and happiness that he once spoke of in regards to what veganism has done for him. I've known a few former vegans, but I've never met one that was really very comfortable with giving up the lifestyle. Some may have found it easier, but they lost that feeling of inner peace that comes from living in accordance to your values.

Though he mentioned that he had an interest in veganism/vegetarianism for several years before Mayte, I know that she is the one that really converted him. And I remember her saying that she always cooked for them and that he wasn't used to eating a lot of the more "exotic" foods that vegans enjoy. She said something about his palate being rather bland or boring. So that could have something to do with it. It's just sad to me though, because I can't imagine that giving up veganism is something that he'd be too happy about.
