P pulled out some CLASSICS for Detroit... Another night, another great show...
But, this MoFo played 17 Days and Something In The Water acoustically last night!.... Plus, he added Call My Name to the set since he last played here, right before Purple Rain. Anyone notice our local Channel 4 Anchorwoman Carmen Harlan up on stage??? Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

This was the best Prince show I've seen in a long time!!! He did a wonderful job. But the thing I most enjoy about Prince shows are the people. We really know how to have a good time, don't we? Did you guys see the first woman he brought on stage?? She fell and busted her ass in front of 20+ thousand! How embarrassing, but she got up there and continued to dance. Prince said, "Well, if you're gonna make an entrance, make an entrance!" He is too damn cute
I also thought the first part of the show was great...his outfit and everything..No heels, they looked like gym shows! And he danced his butt off in them. This was a great show...one not to be missed...hope you all enjoyed. He always plays his ass off for Detroit Smooches;)

I can't remember which shows but he has already played both of those songs very recently. Call My Name was in the set ealier in the tour as well.

LoveMachine knows his shit!!! Call My Name is actually a full-band, full-length song. The other 2 were part of the acoustic set, so they were definitely medlified to some degree or another. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Anyone notice our local Channel 4 Anchorwoman Carmen Harlan up on stage??? Carmen Harlan was on stage? Are you sure? What did she have on? The concert last night was off the hook. The Purple One let Detroit know that His Name Is Prince and He is Funky. The set list was great. I almost passed out when he started singing Call My Name. Damn, that song sounds even better live. Another almost fainting moment was when he performed 17 Days and Something in the Water. Prince and the Band was awesome as well, I kept seeing that song pop up in a couple of the set list, but I didn't know what it was. What cd is that on? I will say that the crowd last night wasn't as hyped as the two shows at the Palace last month. There was practically no one sitting at the Palace, but there were a lot of folks sitting last night, especially during the acoustic set. I was kinda of surprise. The crowd did get back into it after the band joined him again during 7. Of course, the NPG threw down, but I want to make a special mention about John B. He has to be one of the best drummers there are...simply awesome. It seemed like he had more solos last night. The crowd loved it. Another thing different last night was that he brought a few people on the stage early in the show. I don't recall him doing that last month. I couldn't believe my eyes when the first woman he called to the stage, tripped, fell and rolled...oh my lawd. She had to be embarrassed. She did manage to recover well.. I went with two non-Prince fans and they had a ball. They said that they had never had that much fun at a concert before. We were all sore from all the dancing after the concert. I don't see how he does a 2.5 hr concert, night after night, at age 46. The only bad thing about last night was that we had some drinking, drunk idiots behind us. There was a group of about 10 people but only 4 of them actually had seats, so the rest were clustered in the aisle and doubled up in the row. I almost had to curse one woman out because she kept hitting me in the head. I let it slide the first couple of times, but when she did it again I turned around and let her know what she was doing and that I wanted it stopped. One of the guys was dancing in the aisle and kicked my sister several times. She had to hold her fist up to him to let him know that she was going to kick his ass if he did it again. Several of them had a full cup of beer in each hand as they hovered over our heads. We kept turning around, looking like 'wtf.' Of course, some ended up splashing beer on my sister. What's the fucking purpose of going to a concert and getting pissy drunk. Damn, people can't enjoy a night of entertainment without drinking. As we were leaving, one of the chicks put her hand on my back and said, 'Thanks for putting up with us' I was like 'whatever.' Overall, I had a wonderful time and I was so glad that my sister and her sister-in-law had a blast. I am debating as to whether I will be going to the show tonight. I haven't bought a ticket yet. I am still recuperating from last night .... ps Eventhough P has performed Something in the Water, CMN and 17 Days on this tour before, he didn't perform them when he was here last month, so it was special to us. Plus, he only did one song for the encore last month. We got two this time... [I am tired as hell edit] [This message was edited Sat Jul 31 9:35:23 2004 by PurpleCharm]

Carmen was wearing jeans and a black shirt. Very casual.
I couldn't believe he played Seventeen Days. I told my mom (who was with me), that was my JAM in high school. Me and my friend used to call Mojo every night and ask him to play Prince for us, and he would always play Seventeen Days! Of course, we had our little dance to it too!! Great show, and even though I was sitting behind Backwell, I still didn't get picked to go up on stage. This is my fourth Prince show too. That's been my dream since I was like 13 years old!!! Still, the show was very good. He is an awesome guitar player (which we all know). Did anyone hear what he was singing when he sang DMSR and instead of singing "work your body like a whore," he sang something else?

Just watch, when it rains, she wears her hair pulled back... She was dancing with the older guy in the purple blazer towards the end. She was wearing a simple black shirt with jeans that had some brown embroidery on the sides. She's a BIG Prince fan...We saw her at the State Theatre show also...in her full mink coat. Their weatherman was also there, not Gaidica, but Humphries... Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. I know EXACTLY who you are talkin' about! The girl in the purple skintight catsuit had plenty of NERVE to wear that thing. Nothin' comes between her and her suit... BTW, I had some mini-skirts dancing on my side of the stage... Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. Something similar to that happened to us during the Hit and Run tour in 2000. A woman somehow worked her way to the first row where my high school aged buddy and I were sitting. She lifeted her skirt and "tworked" her behind in every possible motion right in front on Prince, the band, and the front few rows at the theatre. Dudes started stuffing dollar bills into her thong. It was a very memorable night, but inappropriate nontheless. Last night's show at the JOE was off the hook as usual. It was my 6th Prince show and we had awesome seats again. Thanks NPGMC, and thanks Detroit. Detroiters sure do know how to have a great time! Much love to the TRUE FUNK SOLDIERS!

Lord have mercy, that lady in the catsuit looked naked I couldn't believe they pulled her up there...I can't believe she had the nerve to wear something like that. Oh yeah, Carmen Harlen was doing her thing, for sure
The funniest people were upstairs, though, in the Executive Suites. Sooooo many drunks, it was ridiculous. I seriously wanted to ask, "Are any of you from Prince.org??" I also loved when Prince asked the ladies to sing with him. He said, "Ladies, sing with me..." Then, when he killed the guitar. Man, he killed it...all they could do was throw a towel on it and take it away...Beautiful Great show Smooches;)

How lucky was she to not only catch P's hat, but to dance on stage with him. I am jealous too... I was looking around wondering if you and all the other people that post on the org were in attendance. We could have been sitting next to or around each other and never knew it. Great show Smooches;) Yeah that was a cool moment! I loved it. I didn't know Prince had such as sense of humor. GangstaFam and I were at the show and had SO MUCH FUN!!!!! We had 5th row (even though tix were through NPGMC) but every time Prince came to our side of the stage he was so close we could see everything!!!!! The long, blusey rendition of "THE RIDE" was killer ~ I'll spend the rest of my life looking for a copy of that! John Blackwell was absolutely incredible although it was difficult to watch him without tearing up at times. Thank you Gangsta for another "gold" concert experience
