Detroit Visitors Deliver Prince to Man Robbed of Tickets

Detroit Visitors Deliver Prince to Man Robbed of Tickets

One of the victims of a string of car break-ins in Auburn Hills Friday lost tickets to that night's Prince concert at Joe Louis Arena. Now, he's getting a new chance to party like it's 1999, thanks to some generous strangers.

They flew thousands of miles to Detroit because they are hardcore Prince fanatics, but Tori Hatch and Karmen Carter turned into softhearted good Samaritans after seeing the plight of a fellow fan on Action News at noon.

Theives broke in to Michael Mitchell’s car Friday, stealing his watch, his camera, and his tickets to the Prince concert. The compassionate out-of-towners just happened to have an extra pair.

"Well, we had two extra people – two other people coming with us – and they ended up bailing out on us in the end, so hey, we got two extra tickets," Karmen said as the pair walked downtown.

In the middle of our interview, with some help from the Auburn Hills Police, Michael called Tori and heard something that was music to his ears.

"We have two extra tickets," Tori told him. "I saw your story on the news, and I know the pain of getting robbed, and I love Prince, so I’d be very willing to give you my two tickets."

There are probably some other die-hard Prince fans who wouldn’t mind a couple of free tickets, but remember: Karmen and Tori know what Michael looks like, and they say they will be asking him for I.D.

I was looking for the woman that owed me $6 last night!!

We stood in line at the Joe last April to get tickets. she was just ahead of me. When she got to the window, she was $6 short because she didn' t know about the service fee.
So she started begging for the money, and no one was getting up on the money. I purchased my seats and she came over to me and said that she only needed $6 and would pay me back, so I charged the $6 bucks and give her my address and phone #. Then I find out that this woman got BETTER seats than me. Which REALLY SUX. and she never paid me my money.
She was older lady, at least in her mid to late 50's so I thought I wouldn't get burned. I should have shrugged my shoulders and said sorry too!

I wonder if the dude remembered where he was suppose to sit? If he did, he should have checked those seats out to see who was there! Think the robbers went to the concert?

yeah, justice served if the robbers got arrested during the show . . . . but if they were smart they probably scalped those tickets

If he paid with credit card he could definitely get it tracked and get the thief in trouble!! I'm not trying to imply the president.

Nope unfortunately it wasn't her. To make it even worst, I used my cell phone to call tickemaster non stop while waiting in line ( I did not want to miss getting tickets) I ran my cell phone battery down trying to get thru and actually got tickets at the window.
This lady then had to call her husband on my cell phone to come pick her up. It was the very last 1 minute my cell phone had for her to make her call. I couldn't wait for him to show up and figured if necessary I could track her with my cell phone.
About 2 weeks later the dayum cell phone died! bawl

Now that was a very good idea... have Detroit PD tap them on the shoulders. If it wasn't the robbers, they might know where he was.

Nope, the robbermen didn't go to the show Friday night.

It was reported on the local Detroit news Friday that the perps, who ranged from 13-19 years of age, WERE CAUGHT Friday. Three of the juvies were released to their parent-types while the 17-year-old and 19-year-old were held in jail, I believe.

But that is so cool for these friends to do this -- to give the guy an extra ticket. BUT, stupid for the guy to leave two tix to an upcoming Prince concert in his car. Heck, I'd have them on my possession if not someplace secure.

But at least the episode ended well -- the perps were caught and the guy got to see Prince.
