Chicago Pain to Louisville Bliss I know this is late, I know this is a bit out dated. I know the previous threads that talked about this have disappeared. But what the hell.
As I mentioned last week, I declared Prince "One Night Alone" a damaged show. In Chicago on March 2 it was not the show I wanted to see. It was painful and hard to get past. The pain came from how divisive Prince was with the crowd. The Chicago Tribune mentioned it and so did hundreds of people on the Org. Well, feel proud and those of you that were thinking of giving up and selling everything. Don’t. In the time span of just one-week, "One Night Alone" has begun to shine. To illustrate, on March 3, I thought of selling my Louisville tickets and I decided not to get Indy tickets. Meanwhile, on March 11, while I am guessing 1+1+1 is 3/Roller Coaster of Love is rocking not 60 miles from my house, I am sitting here. Typing. Jealous. Thinking of still going to the afterparty…if there is one. Ladies, gentlemen, friends, I now must encourage you to run, do not walk to get to this show. Join the club to get good seats and access to the soundcheck. Because while I still have reservations about Prince’s religious "Truth", I have no doubt whatsoever that this is an amazing show. I have no doubt that this is an uplifting show. I have no doubt that this is a healing show. I was critical of the 3/2 performance and that is why I have taken the time to write this. Plenty of people have posted setlists, sound check, (gregmac…) & afterparty lists and evaluations. Bu t I wanted to go on record as a detractor that things are better now (at least they were in Louisville). This above declaration is not to say that I will forever agree with Prince, but quite the contrary. I will speak out when I think he is doing the wrong things. I think we all should. But he does deserve to know when he is doing things right. Louisville "One Night Alone" actually cost $25 less per ticket than Chicago but it was a much more positive show. One more little nugget: On 3/2, Prince actually singled out three people. We know of the first black guy he changed the name of and we know about the white guy he re-named Lynch but I never read about the other black guy he singled out. A gentleman named Merryweather (SP). Prince commented on 3/2 that he (Prince) liked that one and that the gentleman could keep that name. Well, in Louisville, Prince named himself Lynch and then named himself Merryweather. Cool. I’m guessing that they are onto Family Name in Indy by now and I’m sure it is going well. You should check it out. Thank you for your tyme. Positivity. | |
