There is actually only 1 Cross on the pic and thats the 1 on the left, the image to the right of it is actually a firework going off!!! Amazing stuff!!!

Im a pretty big follower in the paranormal and have seen hundreds of these pictures where clouds of gas or flames produce a human or devine image, usually I instantly dismiss them because of coinsidence, but this 1 is my favourite.

I've looked through all of the May and June submissions, and am now going through the rest of the gallery.

There are some absolutely fascinating photos there, although I have yet to see one that can't be explained by light refraction, dust motes, shadowing, anti-dithering, or fakery.

I've been trying to find the words to explain what I mean by anti-dithering, but I'm finding it difficult. The dictionary definition of dithering is :the process of representing intermediate colors by patterns of tiny colored dots that simulate the desired color. What I'm talking about is where the dithering effect appears to create shapes that are not there. To illustrate this, take a picture of some gravel or sand, even a road surface or a concrete footpath (with a digital camera, of course). Blow the picture up so you're getting a highy pixellated (grainy) view and start looking for 'ghosts'. You'll find them!

This works particularly well on 'lumpy' surfaces like gravel, concrete, etc. because there are so many surfaces of light and shadow to be represented, but it works well on other surfaces too.

Another experiment - try taking a digital photo of your tv (when it's switched off).
You'll notice :
1. the same anti-dithering effect caused by the shadow between the glass and the tube
2. it's very easy to photoshop a 'ghost' on to a photographed glass surface, as glass surfaces tend to (obviously) cause quite a bit of light refraction.

So I'm not convinced yet!

However, that is not to say that I don't believe in ghosts - I do, because I've seen some (well I've seen things which I couldn't rationally explain, that I will happily call ghosts).
