wine question

i'm no oenophile, so -

i found a bottle of beaujolais nouveau in my pantry, from 1996. i know this is a young wine, to be consumed right away and not aged, but do you think it's ok?

anyone drink a nouveau after its time?

Just drink it fast. (I don't mean soon. I mean chug it.)

Nothing terrible will happen should you decide to drink it, but the fresh fruitiness that is its primary reason for being will eventually fade.

I'm not sure. Because it is a nouveau, you are meant to drink it immediatly so I don't know how time would have effected the alcohol content. I guess you could always fortify the wine just to be safe!

Add a spirit to it to increase its alcohol content.
