Well, the concept that the director and I had for the band was, because they're all from formerly communist countries, they all latched on to one style of music and stuck with it. To each of them, their music represented freedom. Eric is the 90's Grunge guy, Tiny is a 70's Glam rocker, Louis is 80's New Wave, and J is Gothic/Industrial.

Yes! We strove to make this show seem as much like an actual concert as possible (the play is structured like you are seeing a rock show, with the story told by Hedwig in-between the songs). We are even staging it in an actual live music venue instead of a theater, to preserve that feeling. No lip-synching or faking, by me or the band. It's a full on live event. The only pre-recorded portions are the bits of the Tommy Gnosis "concert" that show up periodically in the show.
