I agree.
The only things that come to mind in the special editions that I didn't like were...
Greedo shooting first (didn't look good, didn't make sense)
Han walking on Jabba's tail (really shoulda thought up a different solution)
and I agree on the removal of Lapti Nek (didn't mind the new song, but it was unecessary,
just shoulda tarted up the old song a bit).

Things I'd love to see changed in the future...

1. totally CGI the attack on the Death Star battle (the current remaining original effects shots
stand out like a sore thumb...and they look dated, and dare I say...a bit cheap) Same goes
for Return Of The Jedi.

2. In fact CGI ALL space based stuff, but keep the same basic 'shots' and composition.

3. Re-do Jabba in A New Hope so he looks like the ones in the other films (and NO walking on
his tail!...totally undermines his 'crime-boss' persona)

4. Greedo shoots first (obvious one)

5. CGI Walkers/Snowspeeder battle on Hoth. Again recreate most of the shots fairly faithfully,
but add a few more 'wow' shots and vertigo inducing flybys.

6. CGI Scout Walkers and Speeder Bikes on Endor. The problem with a lot of the old blue
screen work is that the scale against the backgrounds often doesn't feel consistent and there's
a lack of shadows and interaction the the backgrounds...easily solved with CGI.

7. Replace a lot of the old matt paintings with more three dimensional CGI work.

8. Get rid of some of the 'jumps' in A New Hope when Lightsabers are turned on or off, or
blast doors close quickly. Can be done very effectively now with some subtle CGI morphing.

I think I'll leave it there, before I get too geeky(er)
