THANKFUL 4 the April Snow I've long been an avowed hater of the snow. Any snow. Especially Spring snow. I just want it to go away, already!!! Well, last week I had an experience that makes me look at snow much differently.
I woke up at about 4:00 a.m. on Friday morning with a man I didn't know standing over my bed. With a flashlight. Coming out of a deep slumber, I didn't register what was happening. "What?" I said, to which he responded, "Shit." He then left. I sat in bed kinda stunned. When I saw the motion light outside go on, I knew he was gone. I got up and saw he had turned on some lights and left the back door open. For a split second I debated whether or not to call 911. He was gone, and I was unharmed. Then I thought -- this guy came into my home, hoping to find a woman, and to rape her. I have to call 911 and hope they can stop him. Denver Police were excellent. They were at my house withing 5 minutes -- about 6 officers. 1 stayed to take my statement, the others set off on foot to follow the tracks in the freshly fallen snow. I had officers at my house for a little over an hour. Before crime lab arrived to take prints, I got a call that the suspect was apprenhended at his house, just blocks away. He had items that belonged to me, which made an arrest possible. Apparently there have been some other burglaries/sexual assaults in the neighborhood. And it looks like he was the guy. It's a horrible violation of my space and home, but I am safe and very thankful for that. I am also thankful that he did choose my house. Had he really made it into the home of a woman, ithere may have been one more victim of sexual assault. So that April snow really was key in tracking down the guy. Thank u, God! http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

WHOA! Scary story. I think I would have probably shit myself!
Sooooo glad that he was caught! Just think, while it was no doubt traumatic, if he hadn't come into YOUR house he might have gone on to hurt so many more people. What a blessing! So glad you are okay, and that the scumbag is now in jail! Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. That stuff is so creepy. what would posess a person to behave in such a way? thank God for snow.

Thanks again, 2 u all.
It creeps me out to think he can get out on bail and go after me, since I helped get him caught. Then I also think, if this guy is a serial rapist, they say the serial guys eventually want to get caught. What was he thinking going out on a snowy night? Anyway, I know the odds of him coming after me are slim, but I still think about it. It's scary. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I guess I could call the detective. He came in through the back door. It was locked, but there isn't any visible damage to the door. I had a deadbolt put on yesterday. I guess what disturbs me the most is that he made it all the way to the bedroom and I didn't hear anything. I've stayed at my parents' house the last few nights -- tonight will be my first night back at home. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

Whatever you do my friend do not let him control you... You have the upper hand... You know I found this set of the cutest bells, with suns and moons... I put them on my back door, and every time someone comes in they chime. Just a little bit of security for me. Here is a great big for you.. ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Fucking Hell Chris!
I am SO glad that u are ok, Im shocked, and quite literally STUNNED. I can only imagine how u must've felt, let alone feel now. PLEASE keep in touch with the Police, and ask them about precuations u should take if u feel the possibility of your living space being invaded again, or that u may be threatened etc - that is what they are there 4 2 help u. God knows, u pay your taxes 4 that, right? So use them. If they dont know there is a problem, how can they help? (Besides, I find having a guy in uniform turn up at my house always does wonders 4 my ego!) In all seriousness, im so sorry u had 2 experience this, but u know that Im only an e-mail or org note away if u wanna talk. Im currently away on vacation, so not checking in much, so thanku 4 orgnoting me and letting me know. I love u very much, and am so glad ur safe. Sometimes It Snows In April indeed... Damn, I would have crapped my pants if I woke up and some man was standing over my bed. You are very lucky that he wasn't violent and didn't try to hurt you.
Good thing they caught him though. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Oh my God Chris!!! I would absolutely die if something bad happened to you
Wow! I didn't read the April Snow thread because I thought it was going to be the same as the email you sent me. Here is an excerpt: As the jet airplane began the descent into Denver, the pilot announced a "change in the weather" that would include possbile snow. Yecch! He carried on for about five minutes. The entire time I was waiting for him to stop talking about the snow and say, "Just kidding!" In picturing my return home, I had imagined that my sister would meet me at the airport with my convertible top down, I'd hop in and drop off into a beautiful Colorado Spring day. Well, so much for expectations. You couldn't have known that your hopes for a snowless Colorado Spring day would not be met so that the snow would help capture this criminal. Wow. I'm so glad you are OK and that you weren't hurt. Make sure you kinda keep tabs on if/when this guy gets out. The chances might be slim that he would come back but you shouldn't take any chances. Be safe! Love you 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Oh my.
You poor thing. I think it's amazing that so much of your concern in the face of all of this is for the women in your neighborhood.

Wow!
In a weird way it was fortunate he chose your house as that very act helped to catch him. You did well When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.
