THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT!! Was this the most overhyped piece of shit in history?
"scarier than the Exorcist!!" all i remember is buying into the hoopla and going to see this crap in DC. Everybody threw popcorn and cups at the screen when it ended and were cussing up a storm. "there are rocks and sticks in front of my tent"...wow scary shit there. worse off..who are the people that believed it was a true story? losers. you look better on your facebook page than you do in person

I already heard that it was all BS and wasnt' a true story before i went to see it.. So i wasn't the least bit scared!
HOWEVER, if i would of known it was real.. i may of been creeped out a slight bit.. The day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom - Anais Nin

There was a fake documentary on the Sci-fi channel (I think) My friend saw that after she saw the movie and was scared to be home alone! That was scarier than the actual movie and thats what made people believe it was true!

The first one made me angry. The second made me ENRAGED!!! I won't pay for a third.
I can't believe somewhere there are millions of dollars being invested in this horrible series. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

I went to a preview and everyone burst out laughing when the house lights came up. It was so over-hyped it was absurd. Thanks, Harry.

You had to let yourself go with it and buy into all of the hoopla. And I think they did an amazing job in hyping it up. No one really knew for sure. Hoopla aside, the actors did a remarkable job. It was purely mental watching the fear slowly creep into their characters. [This message was edited Wed Apr 28 16:21:35 2004 by marcdeondotcom]

That shit just freaked me out. Maybe it has to do with being so afraid of the Cucuuy (Boogeyman) as a kid. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Luckily, I caught it before all the hyperbole started, and fucked it all up, and I have 2 say, in THAT light, it WAS pretty damned scary. No...not 'scary' - CREEPY, definately. We left the theatre that nite kinda wierded out. Of course, now it just doesnt have the same effect. But u gotta hand it 2 the guys 4 funding it off their own backs, 2 the tune of a few thousand dollars, and raking in millions. Funny story - the girl I was housesharing with at the time was easily spOOked, and as my friend and I knew she had gone 2 the later showing, and wouldn't be back until long after us, we decided 2 have some fun. So we found some twigs and stones, and hung them from her ceiling, and placed them in little formations in her bed. When she came home, we were in bed by that time, and waiting 4 it... All of a sudden, an almighty scream was heard, then another as she turned on her light - followed by:' U BASTARDS!!!' Im SO gonna burn! 2 weeks ago I went on a houseboat holiday and on the 3rd night there we heard all these branch breaking sounds from the riverbank just like in the movie. we got a bit creeped out. I only saw the movie earlier in the year and thought it was just OK. I got totally scared by Ringu though, couldn't sleep for 5 hours after going to bed (although that could've been the supersize frozen coke).

I thought the movie was whack too.
Typical american popcorn shit to buy into the hype. But it was a fun one, I must admit. I can't wait to the US follow up of The Ring.

A movie that has a Shoestring Budget of no more than 35,000 US$ and grosses to this date 250,000,000 has to be a genius of a film and a phenomena...The movie spawned a huge number of parodies, especially since it was shot on video, making it easy for amateurs to produce their own spoof. Many filmgoers believed the story to be real! The filmmakers tried to carry on that belief, creating their own mythology and history. But personally, I was not impressed. I'd say this movie's not for everyone. You may see what all the fuss is about, or you may not. I'd say that as a cult classic, it's an acquired taste. Here I am, you lucky people!

The remake was an absolute fucking DOG! Ringu and the rest of the originals are far FAR superior! Yet another example of a tired and lazy movie industry 2 afraid 2 take chances, and just placing their money on sure-fire box office winners. I like a blockbuster, and a no-brainer kinda movie every now and again like everyone else, but man - it's just such a shame it's all about bums on seats now, as apposed 2 pushint the envelope with something innovative and hell, (dare I say it?) thought-provoking.
