If......

....if people post their photos here and you find them attractive, do you treat them differently than you would if you didn't know what they looked like?

....if you think someone's "hot", do you treat them with more respect and/or have more patience in your replies to them?

....do you treat male and female Orgers differently, as far as how you respond to them?

Think about it! hmmm

I tend to treat good looking women better because they are more likely to have a following and the last thing I want is to get my ass kicked online.

Ya'll know I love drama, but sometimes (believe it or not!) I just want to avoid confrontation.

But I also treat them better because I want to be on their good side, or something. Be associated with them maybe? That's an interesting question. I'll have to think about it. Seriously though, I'm trying to think of the prettiest female orgers, and I think a good number of them are actually quite cool and intelligent and honest (though, on the other hand, a good number of them are notoriously the very opposite).

And no to the good looking men question, because I'm very picky in the way I view men. They have more to prove to me than their good looks, whereas women can get away with just that.

In any case, my response - and probably others here - are going to be fucked up.

Strange, innit?

And hiiii to you, Carrie!

Thanks for such an honest answer--it's exactly the type of reply I'm interested in (open and honest, regardless of how it may sound or look)

I'm sure I do, subconsciously if nothing else. Probably conciously too, if i'm honest. But it's not just physically attractive. People that come across as attractive in the things they write or people that make me smile or laugh. Anyway, i try not to be confrontational full stop. I don't really see the point.

As for men vs women, well definitely, but in the same way that I probably act differently with men and women in 'real life'. Not that it's a front, but many men just do act more laddish, or are cruder when with men, than when with women. At least before they know them well. I think. confused

Attractiveness does not equal respect in my opinion, it has to be earned. I dont care what you look like, I'm not impressed by lookers, only by minds and personalities.

Ok for the first... how people look doesn't bother me in the slightest though if I see a picture of someone thats very good looking I do feel intimidated but try not to show it.

If I think someones hot I generally tell them and then treat them the same as everyone else... was about to say I pussy foot around them but I do that with virtually everyone to.

I treat all orgers virtually the same, if i talk to them I talk to them if I don't I don't. I think I probably talk to more males than females though simply because I prefer male company... (guessing this is cos I have 3 brothers that I worship!)

In person, I suspect I actually treat conventionally attractive people a bit harsher. On a subconscious level, I probably assume they've been spoiled by life and need some straightening out. (Plus, on some Darwinian level, I probably think of attractive men, in particular, as "competing with me.") If I happen to be turned on by someone, though, (and I'm usually turned on by personality traits and unconventional looks), I probably punk out a bit.

Online, though, appearance means little because I don't expect cyber interactions to develop into any sort of real-time relationships. Here, how I engage a person is almost exclusively based on the persona they impart via these threads.

Well.....I never tried raping Teller before I saw his picture wink

In real life, face to face I think naturally people react different to an attractive person. I rarely ever get the guy I really really want so I tend to just be myself no matter what. On line I tend to interact with a person based on their words. To me, looks are irrelevant in this arena. Although it don't hurt to see a pretty face here and there wink

....if you think someone's "hot", do you treat them with more respect and/or have more patience in your replies to them?

No. If someone can engage me with their words, that is what gives me the tolerance to be patient in testy arguments or debates. If someones cute as hell but dumb as a box of rocks, I'm not fittin to try and coddle them because they're cute.

....do you treat male and female Orgers differently, as far as how you respond to them?

I most definitely interact more with female orgers than male. I pretty much take everyone at face value but I tend to gravitate towards the girls because I have dones so my entire life. It's just natural for me.

....if people post their photos here and you find them attractive, do you treat them differently than you would if you didn't know what they looked like? Not really! I still talk and post with a lot of orgers that I don't know what they look like still. I guess when you don't know what someone looks like you have that bit of mystery to them.....and I see some people flirting with that mystery to them. But i do see once you see an orgers picture.....it becomes a bit more personal.

....if you think someone's "hot", do you treat them with more respect and/or have more patience in your replies to them? No! There are quiet a few women here that I find to be VERY beautiful and that I've not really talked to. I do find them a bit intimidating and I've stayed clear of them. It's better if I get to know the orger before seeing their picture.

....do you treat male and female Orgers differently, as far as how you respond to them? Everybody's the same to me. The only people I treat "differently" are the orgers that I know really well. I suppose I can get away with more and they know me as well.

i really like that we can talk to each other here without being hung up on physical looks. i usually don't check profiles for pictures unless i'm already intrigued by a person's personality online.

i don't think i treat people differently when i find out whether they're conventionally they're attractive or not, imo it's not important on a message board. lots of times i don't even know whose gender is what which is sometimes awkward if i miscall them as male/female eek

I believe I see many Orgers treating women and men differently, based upon attraction, and especially if a hot photo has been posted. In such cases, often the person was posting unnoticed until s/he posted her photo, and then suddenly s/he is everyone's new best friend. smile

ALT, I'm going to agree with you here. And, not because I'm trying to get brownie points with a pretty woman. smile

But, honestly, I've noticed (particularly among fellow male orgers) a tendency to make over someone they deem attractive. Why, one need only to click on some current threads and witness declarations of attraction.

Some of it is human nature. We men tend to be swayed by looks a bit more, I think. And, I think it's almost reflexive (even on this medium) for some men to let competitiveness in that arena become a motivator (and feign the role of a virtual suitor). I'm not sure even how conscious we are of it. (I mean, even my italicized statement in this post could be exemplary of that.)

The virtual nature of our interaction is another factor, I think: For those moved most by the belief that the person they're flirting with is attractive, they're afforded some thrill on the level that they're likely doing easily on the Internet what they might never do so easily "outside."

(sadly, I flirt everywhere. redface )

Then there are those who, as a few have already said, are more interested in Orgers who are just easy to talk to. Interaction for interaction's sake. I think for those of us, and i count myself in this group, we're less emotionally attached to looks the because it's all just for fun. Real life can be complicated enough, without giving a second thought to whether Mademoiselle Orger is fine. What does that matter? shrug

I don't have an issue with posting pictures, obviously.

I ask others to post pictures out of a natural curiousity, I like to put names with faces. Will it change the way I treat someone? Possibly. Physical attraction can do that. That being said, attractiveness does not equal wit and wit gets me everytime.

I consider this place my second messageboard, for now. On my first, I've caught shit for posting my picture like I was campaigning for something, when it's not been the case. Consciously, anyway. I like to look at pictures and I like to share mine.

But referring back to my second paragraph... you can be a pretty face and the most boring person to read, and I won't gravitate toward you. Que sera sera.

Well this is true. I've dated men I've just pined for because of how physically beautiful they were and then they didn't have anything else to offer and it became a curse and a chore. And I have met others that have hooked me not with their obviously beautiful looks, but with the beauty of the inside. Like Lam, I'm attracted to personality and unique looks. I'd rather date the guy with a little bit of a belly, big ears and a crooked smile that makes me laugh and can translate their incredibleness with their words than the Calvin Kline model who has nothing more than the shell that they live in. I LOVE REAL PEOPLE!
