I just finished "The Enchanter" by Nabokov which is about a man who becomes obsessed with a 10 year old girl and ends up marrying her sickly mother to get closer to her.

I'm still reading a book called "Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung" which is a collection of writings by the "legendary" rock writer Lester Bangs. The book kinda illustrates what I dont' like about music critics, but it's worth reading just for the articles in which he and Lou Reed face each other and basically call each other names for 3 hours!

Actually, I'm glad someone asked this question

I've just recently read "A Child Called It", "The Lost Boy", and "A Man Named Dave"

The first one was just awful, as in, the most heartwrenching reading experience I've ever had. It's the true story of a boy's life as a child, which turned out to be the third worst case of child abuse in California history. Sad, just very, very sad.

I've read these... disbelief

His mother and father were horrible people. David Pelzer is an incredible person to have come out of that life like he has.

Gut wrenching drama. A real life horror story of child abuse. A must read for anyone wanting to understand what goes on behind closed doors.

He has a new one out that delves into his teen years a little more.

GREAT BOOK. I've been hearing about it for years, and finally read it a few months ago. Good stuff, Maynard!
