My hubby and I had a star crossed lovers experience. I had a crush on him all through high school, and we kissed one time in 9th grade. I had it bad, that's all I know.

So it was Savage Garden "I Knew I Loved You"

I love that song! Did you know that Prince inspired that song?
The lead singer said that he was watching a Prince interview,
(Oprah I think), and it hit him hard that Prince said that he
had known Mayte in a different life...hence, I knew I loved you....thumbs up!

No I didn't, but I'm glad I know now!! Thanks! biggrin

no wedding song here... we couldn't be arsed... very low-key wedding, just a civil ceremony that lasted 2 1/2 minutes, and a big party the next day. we both liked it that way... anything more elaborate would have been strange for us.

but if i HAD had a more formal wedding, my choice would have been Anita Baker's "Body and Soul"... i love that song.

We both loved it too.....you might be tempted to call Surface a One Hit Wonder,

Closer Than Friends?
Some of my afro american friends give me a hard time about that song being our
wedding song...."we knew there is some black in you...that's a black wedding song"
We're both mexican, btw....either way, it's STILL a great song. smile

June7, Ribbon in the Sky is one of my all time favorites. cry

mine, too!!!!

for so long...

Here ya go the entire song lyric. ) biggrin

Oh so long for this night I prayed
That a star would guide you my way
To share with me this special day
Where a ribbon's in the sky for our love

If allowed may I touch your hand
And if pleased may I once again
So that you too will understand
There's a ribbon in the sky for our love

Do...Do...
Do Do Do Do Do...
HMM HMM...

This is not a coincidence
And far more than a lucky chance
But what is that was always meant
Is our ribbon in the sky for our love, love

We can't lose with God on our side
We'll find strength in each tear we cry
From now on it will be you and I
And our ribbon in the sky
Ribbon in the sky
A ribbon in the sky for our love

Do...Do...
Do Do Do Do Do...
HMM HMM...

There's a ribbon in the sky for our love

Me and my boyfriend's song is "By Your Side" by Sade, and we've discussed having it as our wedding song if/when we get married. And, yes, we did have that song as our's even before Carmen and Dave did it, those bastards! wink

Sounds like mine. We did have a reception afterwards, but the ceremony itself was secular and very simple, how we wanted it.

Anyway, the first dance was "Beautiful in My Eyes" by Joshua Kadison. boxed It was a serious compromise. I really wanted "Pink Cashmere," but my wife (now ex-wife) hated Prince's falsetto, which he uses for most of the song.

For awhile we thought we'd use "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel, but we realized that it has a rhumba beat and would be a bit complicated for dancing.
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.
