I'm worried A few days ago I discovered a lump in my left chest and immediately called my doctor for an appointment. Only, I couldn't get one until nearly two weeks from now.
As we have a history of cancer in my family (my grandparents and my grandmother's sister all passed away from cancer, and my sister has suffered to bouts with cancer - breast cancer and throat cancer), I am deeply worried that I might have cancer. I haven't told my family or friends because I don't want to worry them needlessly, and I'm hoping it'll turn out to be nothing and I'm just being paranoid or whatever, because you know... I want to live! I want to see the next Star Wars movie. I want to read all of Claremont's X-Men. I want to experience LOVE, dammit! So, should it turn out to be cancer, I hope that at least they'll be able to cure it so I can go on living. Anyways, not to worry you all. I just felt a need to voice my concerns, is all. Well I know that men can get breast cancer, but it is very rare so I wouldn't worry too much.

not as rare as it used to be...about 5 percent of all breast cancer is men. I know. Xorn posted something the other day about one of his male friends who had died from breast cancer. Anyways... The lump is about the size of a pea and is right by the mammary gland, and the doctor said on the phone that it might be that the gland is clogged. Well, here's hoping it's somethimg harmless like that. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

I'm trying my very best to not think about it at all, and to keep a postive outlook when I do - that it might be nothing at all and I'm just an old worry-wart. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Sorry to hear about this scififilmnerd
But best get it checked...it could just be a harmless cyst, but I know what it is like to worry. I found a lump in my breast a couple of months ago and got it checked out straight away, the doctor checked it over and luckily it has disappeared now.

So what did you doctor say, that it was a harmless cyst? And how could it just disappear? I have heard about cysts that - if left unchecked - might simply move elsewhere in your body. (Not to say that's what happened to you.) Anyways. I'm glad you're okay. I hope that pretty soon now, I can say the same. FREE THE 29 MAY 1993 COME CONFIGURATION!

Hey, scifi!
Let's hope it's nothing serious, and that this becomes just a brief time of eye-opening worry which causes you to re-evaluate and appreciate who/what you have in your life, and which direction you want to head in the future. But it wasn't something anyone had been looking for in my friend, or something anyone had even imagined, so it was way too late when they found it to do anything but figuratively put a band-aid on it. Make sure you get it checked out very soon though. I'm sorry to hear about your health concerns. I hope it turns out to be nothing, but it's always best to be on the safe side We are the heat and the light in the forest. Without us this is only a place. With us it becomes an adventure.

Don't jump the gun...the mind works in mysterious ways, and so does your health. If you imagine that you are sick, this might do more harm than good. Try to do something to make you appreciate the fact that your alive and in good health until you hear that you have nothing to worry about when you see your Doc, think pos.
