The Telluride Film Festival--Hollywood's hush-hush, super-secret cinema bash that kicked off back in Sptember 1997 at the Colorado resort , Like Sundance, it takes place in a Western ski resort (the skiing's a bit slim in September, natch), features a slate of indie and arty studio features and is crawling with celebs. But unlike Robert Redford's Utah blowout, Telluride is a festival that eschews competition and dealmaking.
This year it will take Place September 3-6 www.telluride.com

Good choice. It´s awfully talky and Arcand´s narcissism shines through on more than one occasion, but it´s still one of the best movies of the year (any category).

"Barbarian" is a lot of fun for a movie about someone dying of terminal cancer. There is a great ensemble cast, and the conversations are alive and witty. When I have to go, I'd like to go out like Rémy, surrounded by friends and with heroin in my veins. Despite its theme, this movie is not depressing, and really worth seeing. ....Dying Can Be Fun.... lol

Yep that too was a beautiful film....I read the book, De Tweeling by Tessa de Loo, and I must say that the movie most certainly lived up to the high quality of the book, in some ways even surpassed it. It's a Dutch movie about (German) twin sisters being taken apart from each other by their families. One grows up in The Netherlands and one in Nazi Germany. I won't tell anymore than that, only that you really need to see this masterpiece. It's a beautiful and touching WWII drama, which gives a different perspective on this terrible part of history.

ive never heard of this.....ill have to check it out...

and ive finally decided on my best actor. Sean Pean. As much as I enjoyed both Johnny Depp and Bill Murray something tells me that John was given the SAG because people like him....but the fact that Bill didnt win the SAG is proof that people within the community arent hip on him.....

And isnt it sad that when it comes to predicting Oscars, rarely is "acting" the overrulling factor? Well, I guess with Charlize this year it is..Cause that performance just blows you away...but, I just wish the movie was as good as her..

JDINTERACTIVE

This year's nominations seem to be a bit quirkier and unpredictable this year so it should be rather interesting to see who wins what. I think the 'Lord of The Rings: Return of The King' may take the best picture to mark the success of the trilogy as a collective. However, I wouldn't be overly surprised if 'Lost in Translation' won. Peter Jackson to win best director though although I'd say Peter Weir for 'Master and Commander', Clint Eastwood for 'Mystic River' and Peter Meirelles, 'City of God' may stand a chance.

As much as I'd love Sean Penn to win in the best actor category, I have a feeling it may well be Bill Murray. The always excellent Johnny Depp in 'Pirates of the Carribean' and Jude Law in 'Cold Mountain' seem unlikley winners I think as is Ben Kingsley in 'House of Sand and Fog' considering he won for his performance in 'Gandhi'.

Favorite for best actress? Possibly Charlize Theron for her great performance in 'Monster' although being quite sentimental towards Diane Keaton I hope she wins for 'Something's Gotta Give'.

In the supporting roles, I think Tim Robbins seems a dead cert in 'Mystic River' and probably Renee Zellweger's great performance in 'Cold Mountain'considering she didnt for 'Chicago' last year too.
