Sure you could just set your shutter speed and ISO on your camera...and bam ya got some kick ass night shots  ...ya got a point, there... and ya know what...the best thing is you never know what you are going to get...that is half the fun. I like to throw off the shutter speed and such just to see what is going to come out on the film. I know!!...  ...and the results can get sooo moody...I once took a bunch of night shots of my car sitting on a deserted backroad, no streetlights or nothing, just miles and miles of crops and darkness--except for the interior light of my car. Just screwing around for a photo class, actually...lol...only about two photos even came close to coming out well...but those two photos were so haunting...
I wanna see your work!!  Sounds very cool. I have some stuff that I did with my only light source being car headlights. I creaped myself out when I developed those negatives and saw the images in print. Did they look like this?

Do you think that's too much??... Well it depends was the work you did well worth the journey? Nah...but the money almost was...lol Just took photos of a bunch of cars and trucks and motorcycles...but made just over $700 in those three days. My niece did this for the local newspaper..
