It depends I guess. I mean if I were watching a sad movie and he was crying, I think I'd hurl. But if they were hurt emotionally/physically or was just really sad then I think it's good that they can show their feelings. I like tough guys, but even a tough guy cries.

The truth rears its pretty head. All those people who say they find crying men sexy or touching neglect to add that it has to be something truly terrible. nod

Ok, so you're all touched or turned on by a man who dares to cry, BUT... that's only because it doesn't happen too often. If you saw your man cry two or three times a week, would it still be great?

It would be the same if a woman cried two or three times a week. Excessive crying is never great unless there is something seriously wrong. In which case it's worrying.

As a man, I don't cry. It's not that I wouldn't cry, I just haven't had anything to cry over.

It would have to be some bad thing that happened to my family that would make me cry.

No contest, but you can't deny you'd be alarmed if as many men cried at weddings as women. smile

Uh, I don't think this dude is exactly crying. In fact, I'm quite jealous. But yes, everyone has to cry sometime, it's normal, even the most macho of men can't bottle things up forever.

Bingo!! biggrin

I guess I could have made my point more clearly earlier (I referred to grieving over a death as an example) but I think that largely the reason for the man to cry has to be something really big or terrible. Not day to day shit.

I think you are allowed to cry once every 3 years or so max. wink

hmmm So at what point does male crying become less attractive?

POLL FOR THE MALE ORGERS: How often do you cry in, say, a year's time? Be honest! (And the girls can gauge if it's too much or too little.)

Me: Maybe 3-4 times a year. (But I can recall crying in the presence of only two people in my entire adult life.)

2003, I cried a lot. In fact, I think I made up for years when I didn't cry at all.

BTW, the last time I cryed was about 3 years ago when I very good friend of mine (who is approx 15 years older than me) had both of his sons (who were in their 20's) commit suicide within 5 months of each other.

That shit damn near broke my heart and after I got home from the second funeral/wake I sobbed like a baby for my good friend.

Not even once a year. Only when I'm going through a messy breakup or have nerve-wrecking health issues, in which case I'm liable to cry once or twice a year. I'd say 0.3 crying incident a year overall.

Sometimes I'm thinking.. "Oh this is really sad. Go ahead and cry!" and I can only muster teary eyes.

Damn my macho dispositions! smile

That's truly horrific. If that was in a screenplay, they'd be like "oh that's too melodramatic... let's not go overboard!", and stuff like that actually happens to people.

At the time it was almost impossible to believe, it was shattering. I remember getting the phone call on the morning of the second suicide (it woke me in bed) and I was convinced it must have been a dream. How could such a thing happen?

Well, my opinion of crying is the same with men and women. A tear or two in sorrow is a sad thing to see and moves me. I feel compassion for the person.

A scrunched up face streaming with snot and tears is a horrible thing to see and (and I'm being honest here) disgusts me.

I know that might sound harsh but I'm just telling the truth.

Not until he learns up to face up to things like a man (and starts buying rounds)

Interesting question. I personally think that if a man cries then that's OK espically if its 4 a genuine reason and it no way makes them less of a man if they cry, cuz IMO real men cry too.

If a man cries it shows he is sensitive and has feelings and emotions and I see no point @ all when u see people when they try & hide their emotions, sometimes u just got gotta cry & it makes u feel better afterwards.

I mean we r all human after all and not robots, so believe it or not, we all cry.
