I used to be. Started in 1997 when I was 19.

First I just smoked a few every day but it
soon became more and more.

Then I quit for a few months but soon had
the urge to take it up again and started
to smoke a lot more than before.

I've smoked a packet a day for about 3 years
and just last year I finally got so sick of
being addicted that I gave it up again.

Kept that up for about 6 months and then fell
off the wagon again and smoked huge amounts
and even more when I was stressed out by some
thing or another.

I found that telling myself "I'll never smoke
again" just made me panick and made it very
hard for me to keep up not smoking.

So then I told myself, "I won't smoke anymore
unless I'm going out to a club and am having
a good time, that's when I'll have a few".

And that worked wonders. I don't smoke at all
now during the week. And since I don't go out
every weekend, sometimes I go without smoking
for two or three weeks.

It's just on saturdays when I go out now, that
I buy a packet and smoke some ciggies during
the night. But on my way home, I just chuck
the remaining fags out the window.

An added bonus to that is that your body isn't
used to the cigs anymore and you feel pretty
damn wasted on sunday after smoking the previous
night. So that once again strengthens your
conviction to not take it up anymore during the
week.

Well, it works for me anyway. Don't know how
well that would work for someone else.

You have to have the willpower to stick to just
the saturdays when you're out and not give in
and smoke on other days as well.

Unlike most people, I started at a VERY young age. My parents thought it was cute. Every chance they got, they had me doing it. In the backyard, on the front lawn, in the kitchen, even at church pinics!!! I'm 32 and I don't see no sign of stopping. I'm smoking right now. I can't wait til this Ham is done so I can smoke some turkey legs next.

Wait a sec...
Life my azz muthafucka, dis is a bitness!!

I use to be.. I still enjoy smoking every so often especially when I drink... It is very true that drinking and smoking goes hand in hand...

Me. I started smoking when I was 14, but I didn't inhale until I was 18. wink Truly. I thought the whole point was suck it into your mouth, blow it out. Anyway, I've smoked about 3 or 4 a day on weekdays, and about 10ish on Friday and Saturday nights. I talked to my doctor about quitting in the mid-90s, and he told me that I should, but statistically I was a non-smoker. I've made a few half-hearted attempts at quitting over the years. My first serious attempt was this past summer. I quit for 3 months. That's the longest I've ever gone. Now I'm back on to one or two a day, with a few more when I go out. I am thinking about quitting again, though. It's an ugly, smelly, vile addiction that I'd like to break.
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark

It'll be a year ago sometime this month that I quit cold turkey. Oddly enough I haven't had a craving.

Ew, smoking is so nasty. I really hope you guys quit. My grandmother passed away of lung cancer 13 years after she stopped smoking because her lungs were so damaged from the smoke.
