7. Made some of the funniest gag fests of recent years with snappy, witty dialogue ('Smalltime Crooks', 'The Curse Of The Jade Scorpion')

8. Plays great jazz (see 'Wildman Blues' or the soundtrack for 'Sleeper')

9. Wrote some side-splitting short stories (see 'Complete Prose' but don't read it on public transport unless you want to be stared at as you laugh uncontrolably)

I actually do, and have seen many of his films. Artists almost always bring their personal lives into their work, it's what drives their creativity, and I choose to see him as a whole--the man and his work. When people ignore what's fucked up about someone in order to justify their positive feelings about that person's work, I have a problem with it. I think it's important to acknowledge both, to say "yeah, such and such person did some really fucked up things and he's a creep, but I LOOOVE his paintings", and not act like a dysfunctional family fan base, lol.

by an artist they're going to acknowledge it. It doesn't automatically mean that people
don't see the value in their work, but at the same time there are also those who won't
support said artist because crossing a specific line is too extreme. Allen's
relationship with his wife's adopted daughter is crossing that line for many people.
