Conch, you are too funny! It's true! They look at you like you're crazy, and then they get all wierded out to the point where they'll usually run away from you...

What's funny is that I can meow at my older cat, and he doesn't freak out, he meows right back at me. We can have a regular conversation back and forth between the two of us.
The only time my younger cat meows back at me is if he wants something (the food dish is empty, he wants attention, etc.). RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Really! It used to piss my cat off to the point that she'd take a swing at me.

Maybe we should all go into therapy together...

My old cat Iggy could use some meowing at him. He's a lil' creep who'll bite anyone who touches him...but will complain if you don't pay him any attention.
I miss that bugger... | |

They learn to meow at us because they realize how verbal we are. I guess they think we've cracked the code when we meow back. But all their different reactions when they see it was a false alarm show how different animals really are from each other. Interesting.

Your stories are so funny My parents' cats seem to be fascinated whenever I sing or cry! They appear to like my singing (), but my crying freaks them out, even if I'm not loud (the male cat runs, the female cat crouches and stalks me from room to room, lol). Weird, huh?

I once had a karaoke machine at my parents house and I was singing a song. My cat Callie ran out of the room in fear. Then again, my singing has that effect on people too...
