Who likes indian food?

Nevermind psycho's chinese food (ehehehe, hi Nancy razz), who likes the delightfulness of indian food? Usually I have poppadoms with the usual dips, onion bhaji for starter and then chicken tikka for the main course although Im beginning 2 be a bit more adventurous now.

Who else is a curry freak like me then!?

I love it! I lived in Singapore's 'Little India' for a couple of years and still go back there a couple of times a week... My favourite is masala thosai.. followed by prata, puri, chapati, all the sauces such as dahl (spelling?).. and the sweet Indian tea... mmm... come to think about it I'm gonna get on my bicycle and get over there!

Violett just introduced me to an AWESOME Indian restaraunt on the edge of MPLS. Their whole menu is vegie and vegan!! I even took some of my carnivore friends there and they LOVED it as well and didn't even miss the meat!!!

Oh my God... I fucking LOVE Indian food. I live on it!

I come from a pretty poor, rough background and as a kid I only ever knew very simple food - I hadn't tasted anything even vaguely "foreign" food-wise (including pasta, pizza, curry etc) before I went to university and broadened my horizons a bit. So although I've been a vegetarian all my life, I didn't discover Indian food until I was around 16, 17 or 18.

Once I did... it was incredible! So many new choices available to me for eating out... I've never looked back. I'm a complete curry fanatic. When I lived in Japan (not a place where it is easy to get vegetarian food) I just lived in Indian restaurants the whole time.

The only problem is that my cooking repetoire is rather limited. So I am gonna buy a few good Indian vegetarian cooking books so I can make stuff that tastes a bit more like the food I get at decent Indian restaurants. Any recommendations?

Indian food is the greatest.

I love Indian food. Anything at all. My husband works with two Indian women and they send food home with him about once a month. I've had many different dishes from them as well as in restaurants and I love it all.

TRON

I tried it for the first time this summer. My brother took me to a place he swears by in Salt Lake City. I thought I would like it because I have pretty experimental taste when it comes to food. But it was awful! I don't know if it was just the dish I ate or what. I felt sick the rest of the night and couldn't sleep. It didn't sit with me well. I know I shouldn't judge it based on one meal, but I'm not eager to ever try it again. barf

I don't think I've ever seen Ian so animated over anything biggrin

Your post has uplifted me Ian - it's great to hear about real lust for a change biggrin

Being half Indian and vegetarian too, I should really learn to cook a good curry. If you come across any good recipe books, do share the names biggrin
