I may have to have hand surgery...

I dislocated the middle finger on my left hand playing basketball last week. I can't move the tip of my middle finger as the tendons were knocked out of place. I've never had any kind of surgery before and I'm a little nervous about it. I'm trying to stay positive and realize that it has to be done. It was my second week at my new job. It's a great job (an after school program working with elementary school kids) and I'm pissed that this had to happen. Mostly though I'm afraid I'll never be able to play music again cry, or box bawl

Thanks guys. The upside is I'm real popular with the little kids now. They say things like, "Cool can I see?" or "Wiggle it" when they know I can't. Now I'm known as "Nemo" on the playground on account of my gimpy "fin". sigh

Don't worry about it man. You'll be fine. As for playing music and boxing, I know from prevoius experience that recovering from something like that takes a very long time, but U will ge better and be able do do all the things U could before. I fucked my knee up nearly 4 months ago now and it still isn't the same as it was, but I know that it is improving. I can't wait for the day I can get back on the basket ball court!

Been there and done that. lol
It's nothing. The surgery is fast and doesn't hurt that much...althought they do give you really good painkillers. nutty
Let me know how it goes and what they need to do. I'll talk you through it. wink

Surgery is better than no surgery, you are mor likely to be boxing and music playing if you have surgery than if you hope it goes away.

Lie back, enjoy the drugs if you get some good ones, even better watch the procedure. Then loads of physo afterwards to get back to what you love doing.

Yeah that's what I've been saying to myself anyway to keep my spirits up. I'll definitely be doing loads of physical therapy as I can't wait to get back to working out.
