Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Anyone catch a preview of this yet?

I am a pretty big horror movie buff and I own the original TCM. The reviews for this have been average C+ - B range. Anyone see it yet? Anyone looking forward to seeing it?

I think Im going to see it tonight. As long as there is some good gore, Ill be happy. And this movie without gore would be like peanut butter without the jelly.

I've seen the trailer and it looks utterly shit.

What made the orginial so dark was that it was an independent production without any big studio influence. In fact, the film was shot on the farm that the makers bought their weed from!

The remake looks like a shit, teen-movie, corporate-cock sucking, souless, bland remake. I'd rather stick my nuts in a grinder than go see it.

So, to answer your question, I'm not looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to avoiding it like I would Leatherface if he ran at me with a chainsaw.

Vern's review on aintitcool almost makes me not want to see it now.

anyone heard about Bubba Hotep? Starring Bruce Campbell from the Evil Dead films. It's about what "really" happened to Elvis. Supposed to be a halfway decent B-movie horror comedy type deal. As good as the Evil Dead series?

The original was extremely scary IMO. I've seen it at least 6 times over the years and some scenes still get to me. I'm not surprised to hear this remake sucks. Don't most remakes suck?? Hollywood is in dire need of some originality!

Why do people like to watch cruelty? (I'm asking in all seriousness, so please respond with candor and detail. Thanks.)

The original had the air of "student film by stoner students". It was useless. NO nudity, the violence was hardly scary, and the acting was painful.

If hollywood does anything to this movie, they certainly can't make it WORSE than the original.

not too many people went to see "Gigli" so your assessment that people actually like cruely is kind of off.

it's a movie. suspend reality and live a little.

Right, but there are many ways to suspend reality, and a given person doesn't participate in all of them. So, what's the enjoyment that one receives when watching a depiction of cruelty?

THANK GOD THAT'S NOT ME!!!

That's the enjoyment. I'm pretty sure that's it. And the scare. Folks love to be scared. Ask Michael Jackson.

it has little to do with cruelty, more to do with fear. fear gets the adrenalin pumping. that is a good feeling for most.

Surprisingly enough (being a BIG fan of the original) the trailer seems 2 retain the unease, and atmosphere of the original - but falls short due 2 the use of MTV-Generation actors.

This will more than likely be its downfall.

The trailer is worth checking out - but I will say one thing - IF u havent seen the original - see that FIRST.

Bananacologne! I've always respected your opinions until now! That trailer looks vile! i mean vile in the quality sense, not the gore sense.

Lesson two:-

"When big studios try to remake a hit made by independents or other launguage studios, 8/10 the results suck."

How could Hollywood ever make anything as raw & intense as the orginal Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Look at the difference between the 1st Blair Witch & the big bucks studio follow-up.
