We're So Fucking Old... Unless You're Not.

I got this via email today... lol Thought you'd all enjoy this... smile

Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's incoming freshmen. Here's this year's list:

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1983. They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had an answering machine.

They have always had cable.

They cannot fathom not having a remote control.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel," or "de plane Boss, de plane."

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is.

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

Do you feel old yet? Pass this on to the other old fogies in your life.

I think I've seen this email, albeit in different incarnations (i.e. different pop culture references and a different year).

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1983. They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up. 1983 I got married :\

Their lifetime has always included AIDS. Back in the day it was the claps

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic. I use to make rings with the pop can thingee.

The CD was introduced the year they were born. 8 tracks were the shiznig!

They have always had an answering machine. my mama ain't here call back later! click...the dailTONE

They have always had cable. hanger angled towards the window.

They cannot fathom not having a remote control. who had the pliers last?

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show. poor Johnny, he gets no respect.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave. uh, Criso and a black skillet

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws. Ma, can we get some ballons?

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are. Or pop bottle glasses either.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from. Nah new, nah new biggrin

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel," or "de plane Boss, de plane." Reality sucks

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is. Genie!!!

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers. Who?

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter. the ones with the correction and red tape were awesome dude! Ding

Do you feel old yet? Nope just my back at times biggrin

Pass this on to the other old fogies in your life. I've got two sisters older than me!

No...I think it's pretty cool biggrin I've always loved hearing about these types of things from my parents...now I can tell those stories biggrin

(not to mention, I'm 32 and people tell me I still look like I'm in my early 20s...so, I'm not worried about it biggrin )

i always tell people this is why it was not terribly hard to deal with for me. mine was the first generation that had always had the knowlege of it's existance, and grew up seeing people who were survivors (god bless you pedro zamora, and rest your beautiful soul) so it was not as scary.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS. sad

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic. i miss gettin bottles of pepsi in the glass 16 oz. bottles! sad

The CD was introduced the year they were born. all i knew of prior to cds were cassettes and vinyl!

They have always had an answering machine. me, it wuz a pen and paper...or my memory, eheh.

They have always had cable. not me! my mom didn't get cable till about '85 or '86...before then i watched all the local channels. hmm

They cannot fathom not having a remote control. i remember fuckin around with the knobs on the teevee set and my folks gettin mad at me--"quit messin with the color, deja!!!" falloff

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show. when johnny carson came on it wuz time for me to go to bed

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave. for me it wuz a metal-bottomed popcorn popper...burnt my bottom lip on that sum'bitch, too!

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws. i never went swimmin at all, save for the public pool...

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are. lol

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from. na-noo, na-noo!

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel," or "de plane Boss, de plane." or "don't hate me because i'm beautiful!" sexy

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is. the episode when j.r. got shot came on not too long before i wuz born!

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers. omg i remember them containers! i'd always wondered why they didn't use 'em no more...

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter. i do! biggrin
