When I was young, movies like Friday The 13th 3D, The Burning and The Warning scared me silly. Now they amuse me silly. lol

I once turned on the TV just as a movie by Quentin Tarantino was at a scene where some gangsters tortured a man tied to a chair. feeling ill That was so sick I had to turn it off. barf

The last movie to actually disturb me on some deep level was Event Horizon.
I didn't find it particularly good, but it still haunted me.

im 32 years old...and i still cant freakin watch it ...it makes me physically ill :Puke:

horror movies themselves dont do anything for me...but when i was young...nightmare on elm street fucked me up for days

I can't ever watch that scene, EVER, and I normally love anything gory and scary. That's too real though.

The goriest movie I´ve seen by far (and trust me, I´ve seen a lot of movies) is Deathbound. It´s a spanish movie and I saw it at Stockholm Film Festival maybe five or six years ago. When it was finished only about ten people were left in the audience. The rest had walked out long ago.

It has no dialogue whatsoever and the entire "action" takes place in a sterile hospital room without any windows. It starts out with what seems like a normal autopsy (shown in detail). But after a while you realize that the doctor isn´t exactly sane. He starts to change places of different organs, sewing the brain into somebody´s stomach etc. Eventually he opens up a drowned young girl and rapes the body so that the blood splashes everywhere. And so on and so forth.

I felt completely fucked up for weeks afterwards.

OOOHHH!!! GOTTA C DAT!!!

I wish i saw Cannibal Holocoust" but some1 had it at the video store, so i rented "Cannibal Feroux" which i think is the same thing as "Let The Sleeping Corpses Lie" not sure.

In this one, white people disturbed the tribe people, and they got torn up. Eating the intestines, cutting the penis, hooks in the bressisis.

"Demons" was good by Argento.

"I Spit On Ur Grave" was nice and nasty with torturing screaming rape, and nice killings.

True. The gore is disgusting and sickening. But the psychological mindfucking is what is scary - something Hitchcock understood and that is why I think he is still the master of the horror genre.
Hint at something and let the viewer's imagination do the rest. That's much more effective.
Movies like Alien (discounting the hatching scene) and Event Horizon prove that it still is possible to scare your audience without gore spraying into its lap.

I love the re-animated stinky cat and when the dismembered head nearly goes down on that woman.

Sounds like snuff to me. Betcha they killed someone to make that. I once saw an Italian splatter (by mistake, I thought it was horror - I never see splatter movies, youck!), and I believe to this day that it was snuff. Them southern european, catholic guildridden countries spawn some terrible people.

And it sounds to me that whomever made that movie you're talking about belongs in a mental hospital. Heck, I thought whomever (David Fincher among others) made Seven oughta be in a mental institution. Whomever that has nothing better to do with their time than to think up inhuman cruelty and barbarism really should just, well... die. biggrin
They are numbing people with their crap and are adding to the problems of violence and murder in this world. They can call it "art" and "just showing it like it is" all they want - they aren't helping.

No. I don't like movies - neither personally nor ideologically - about humans being inhuman to other beings, so - ever since 7 - I avoid movies about serial killers and the like. I don't find them scary, just sick and disgusting.

What I DO like is movies about the boogey man. The boogey man is a metaphysical creature from your ID.
Jason Vorheeves, Freddy Krüger, Candy Man, aliens, killer robots, demons (and demonic possesions like in The Exorcist), Michael in the Hallowween movies, The Blair Witch, Pinhead, Hellraiser, etc. - those are all representative of the boogey man.
The boogey man - if done well - scares me.
