Yeah I got that too.. But I also use Paint shop, because some of the features save a lot of time. but yes, both are very good.. I was curious bout the latest cause it has some pretty neat features...

I use Fireworks for all my web stuff, it's got a ton of awesome features and a great layout that really speeds things up.

Photoshop is all I use for editing my digital photographs and scanned negatives. PaintShop pro is a good value for its price and features, but Photoshop gives me more control with blending modes, adjustment layers, levels, curves, etc...

PSP is good for pixel art stuff. A lot of people I know prefer Pro Motion for pixel art but the interface is too wacky for me (I mean, it is a clone of Deluxe Paint which is just ancient now).

Another good thing about PSP is that it is much than Photoshop for PNG image encoding. Also it is pretty cheap compared to the Adobe tools and it gives a lot of features for your money.

Personally I use Photoshop and Illustrator for most stuff, but for quick pixel art work I use Paint Shop Pro 8. Do check out Pro Motion as a decent alternative though, it's great for managing brushes and palettes etc.

As Tom said though, for web-centric work the Macromedia tools are fabulous - Fireworks etc.
