I'm with you on the fact that human life exists, and behaviors exist. I'm not sure that it makes sense to say that certian behaviors "degrade human life".

If denial makes somebody feel better than acceptance, no matter how unlikely you think that is. . .how is it evil? I know, feelings aren't supposed to be the standard, but I can't figure out why anything else ultimately matters. Who cares about human life if the humans aren't enjoying it?

Nobody in denial is enjoying life. A man of self-esteem is proud and strong, not at war with reality like the man in denial.

Just because you couldn't enjoy a life of denial doesn't mean that nobody could. It's certainly a logically coherent concept. Could I? Could you? Perhaps not. But somebody could. I think it is pretty silly to think that there is anything inherently/objectively wrong ("evil") about denial, or narcissism.

You can't fool reality. You can't wish it away. You are there. Being in denial is a crippling handicap that stifles growth. Maybe a person in denail could feel pleasure in some kind of fleeting sense, but not an everlasting joy that comes from feeling at home in the universe, as opposed to being in constant conflict with it.

What do you think is the difference between someone with healthy self-esteem vs. a narcissist?

What? You mean it isn't good for me to post my picture all over the internet? pffft!

I agree with Aaron.

What makes me even sadder is when people take on others personalities for the sake of trying to please that person. That is self-esteem at it's lowest... I guess people don't realize how wonderful they are.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

Reality is always filtered through perception for beings such as ourselves. I think that you are very likely right about denial, for at least the vast majority of people, but I don't think it's an objective fact. That's all I'm saying.
