3 Days after Hurricaine Isabel...I finally have electricity again! Thank God...I was beginning to go mad. I actually went outside for once...after a day of that, I decided to go ahead and mow the lawn. It was a totally different world, I tell you!
Seriously, though, here in Hampton Roads, VA, it was starting to suck. Luckily my wife was smart enough to stock up on food and water...still, boiling water on a charcoal grill just to make some crappy instant coffee in the morning sucked! We had a weeping willow in the front yard that blew over during the storm. Forunately, nothing landed on our house. Other folks weren't so lucky...we went driving around the next day, and there were trees EVERYWHERE laying in the road, beside the road, tangled up in the wires, none of the stoplights worked anywhere for miles around...long lines at the few powerless grocery stores selling dry goods...a real disaster area! Fear is the mind-killer.

Well at least you still have a roof on your house I suppose
Still, being without electricity for that amount of time sucks. You need an Emergency Org Generator so that your access to our site is uninterrupted in case of natural disaster!

I'm gone for just a little while and suddenly Handclaps is out there moderating! And Anji drops his bomb... :O True, I fantasized about having a laptop with wireless internet, but the batteries would have died after a short while anyway. Really though, I feel lucky that I didn't suffer too much hardship. The worst thing was probably not having any air conditioning, and having to throw away just about the entire contents of the refrigerator. Other people had trees falling into their living room... Fear is the mind-killer.

Ah yeah the Handclaps thing has been in the pipeline for quite a while now actually... I really wanted to have some more mods, dedicated to specific forums, we felt it would give us better coverage and more consistency of service across the site. Yeah things could have been much worse for you but living without electricy ain't much fun I'd imagine! I access the Org wirelessly from my laptop but it wouldn't be much use once the battery ran down...
