On Friday, Hurricane Fabian passed within 36 miles of Bermuda, where i'm from, and caused widespread damage. i spoke to my family today and they are all ok. their homes escaped damage as well fortunately.
Unfortunately, a guy who i kind of knew and who's wife i have known for years was not so lucky. he got stuck on a bridge with three police officers when their vehicles were swept off the bridge. none have been found yet and i guess they are presumed dead.
the last time this serious of a hurricane hit Bermuda was in 1987 and i was there for it. Hurricane Fabian has proved to be a worse storm. the pictures i have seen on the internet has thrown me for a loop. i can't believe it. i'm just glad that my family are ok. i still haven't spoken to my mom and dad since their phone has been knocked out.

it's times like these when you are far away from your loved ones that you miss them and you have to thank your lucky stars that nothing awful has happened cuz something truly awful could have easily have happened.

it's been a weird two days considering i had a very pedestrian attitude to this hurricane when i first heard about it. bermuda has been so lucky in the past with near misses and no real major threat and i just carried it over onto this one.
i guess we shouldn't take life too lightly sometimes.

the father of one of my work buddies lives in Bermuda and unfortunatly he has been unable to reach him. my friend has no idea how his dad is...
