Let's recap yesterday's important events that might be on the minds of devotees of a musical genius who has often and passionately sung about brotherhood, freedom, racial issues...

Anniversary of March on Washington - 8 posts/5 participants

3 sluts swapping spit on TV - 100+ posts/many participants

I'd be too pissed to sing to y'all right now, as well.

the flaw in your logic is that only one of these things OCURRED yesterday. the "3 sluts swapping spit on TV" actually happened yesterday. yes, the anniversary of the speech was yesterday as well, but it was 40 years ago.

"news" is exactly that. "new."

should there be more discussion about the anniversary? probably. but you're on a website dedicated to a pop star. the balance of "what's imporant" for discussion around here is going to be a bit skewed.

also, you should probably lay the blame for there not being very much fanfare in general over MLK's speech at the feet of the King family themselves. in their effort to protect their financial stake in the copyright of his writings and speeches, they've raised the licensing fee to a rate that no one is going to pay. his family themselves have made it prohibitive to use his words to promote his ideals.

also, a thread about MLK and the March on Washington would probably be best discussed in the politics and religion forum, whereas Madonna/Britney/Christina is discussed in a more more populated music forum, and this being a website about a musician, one would find more conversation about that.

if one comes to a Prince-based website for the primary intention of discussing politics, then they are a moron. politics is discussed here in 2 capacities: 1) as a side track to discuss certain issues with like-minded people, but definitely not the primary focus and 2) when it is the primary reason for posting here, it's by people with ill or poorly informed opinions or people who couldn't hold any ground in a real political discussion, so they discuss it here, at a Prince website, trying to come off as a big, brainy fish, in a very small, shallow puddle.

what a clever comeback. however, below the surface of it, it's really something quite different. my answer of "there are too many of them ripping off one person's good idea and beating it to death" doesn't really apply. unless you're crazy, and actually would answer the question that way. which may very well be, but for now, i'm doubting it.

now, answer the question. why do you care?

No, not "next". You simply complained and did an overview of a Prince Org. GD post. In which you discussed your distaste for a certain subject. But if that makes you feel like a rocket scientist, thats ok. But it goes against you having to try and figure out why I would post what I did about teller always whining about his reactions. you think so? by doing so, they're limiting the reach of his words and ideas. i'm all for them getting paid for it, but they've gone overboard, making it so that no one will want to use them, so no one is going to hear them.

I assume your nasty response is due to you being a "religious guy". Not very Christian really to deny that black repression exists... tsk tsk

You assume wrong dipshit ,my reaction is born of being fed up with the fact that people spout on about freedom etc and yet when a person expresses a view on an issue of belief they get whacked. Plus I get cheesed off at the attitude of some people assuming that racism only goes one way and that the only form of opression we should make noise about is whites repressing blacks. At no time have i said that it does not or never did exist however I hate the fact that because I am white the assumption is that I will be racist- bullshit. If you took the time to read some of my old posts you would know how I feel and the reaction these feelings have got from others rather than jumping in with your own judgement of what I am and what makes me tick. Got it?

You haven't explained the relevance of your rant against the undoubted existence of black repression. Nobody even mentioned racism being one sided or any kind of repression and the discussion was about criticising religious zealots. You brought this weird deviation in on a MLK anniversary thread which is somewhat bizarre. Chip and shoulder spring to mind...
