These are what make life beautiful...

I don't want to compare my life to anyone else's, in order to find it's true value...besides, life is a series of moments strung together by time...and as Iridesence said to me in an orgNote, try to find the beauty in the moments. When you allow yourself to mentally/emotionally "string together" the beauty you find within one moment to the next, you suddenly find that you are indeed living a beautiful life...

Right now...the sun is reflecting thru the skylight window of my apartment--my bare apartment--and onto my bare white wall...a bright rectangle of sunlight forming on the wall and down onto the floor...it's amazingly inviting to look at, as if you want to stand inside it and feel the sun's warmth...

So I did...

I then opened the blinds covering the sliding glass door leading out to my balcony...the view from my apartment is beautiful, peaceful...neatly kept lawns and landscaping, healthy green trees with so much character, and rolling foothills in the distance...some clouds, and a perfect blue sky...a very rich and intense palette of nature's colors right outside my window...I just stared out the window for a moment, and let my eyes and soul soak in that very real beauty...

In the middle of what could very easily be an emotionally "challenging" day/time right now, I still surprised myself with that ability to "find the beauty within the moment"...even those moments which aren't obvious or profound--how easy it is to see the beauty in moments which are profound and dramatic...it's finding the beauty in the moments which have nothing "special" attached to them, and even sometimes have the difficult connected with them, which turn out to be the most profound..and the most important to achieving happiness...peace ...love.

I do understand your point, but I have to add that it´s a hell of a lot easier to find happiness in each moment if you live in a nice environment, have kind people around you, have no financial worries etc...

And continuing my slightly bitter rant I´d like to comment on 00769BAD´s post too:

Sure, there´s always someone out there that is worse off than myself, but why would that make me happy? Some people even use the "always someone else..." phrase to take away people´s rights to feel bad. Not that anyone wants to feel bad of course, but if you do then at least you don´t want to feel like a spoiled brat on top of that.

Life really is beautiful a lot of the time, but it sucks a lot of the time too, no matter how much we try to appreciate the little things. Some people try to turn a blind eye to that fact and that´s not a good idea (I´m not saying the people I quoted has that attitude though). I feel confident that in the end you´re better off acknowledging both sides of life. Ignorance is not bliss and never has been.
