No, not the card game!

Ok--I'm a single person. I've been dating since I got to Seattle, but haven't found anyone I want to date seriously in quite awhile.

I've noticed that some of you who are married or in serious relationships just step incorrectly when you talk to us single freaks of nature. Let me help you out a bit, here, and other single people please feel free to chime in.

Non-single people, please:

1. Don't assume we're miserable because we're single (many of us have great friends and interests, and know it's far better to be alone than to be with someone and unhappy)

2. If you haven't seen us in awhile, please don't start out your very first sentence by asking if we're seeing someone. Ask us how we are, about our jobs, families, etc.

3. Don't tell us, "oh, it'll happen when you least expect it" or other platitudes. Some of us haven't "expected" anything, yet it still doesn't happen.

4. Don't try to set us up with any and every single person you know.

5. Don't point out how little time we have for getting pregnant and having kids.

6. Please still try to include us when you do things--we still want to see you and hang out, even though we might not have a partner to bring.

What else?

7. Stay away from him... he's married.
8. Stay away from him... he's a player.

9. Julie... get over it, it's time to move on.
