I give this movie TWO POUNDING FISTS UP!

Its a true cutting edge drama, not some popcorn-eatin', mindless spinning Spidey cartoon.

Personally, I thought it was going to suck.. a big green cartoon in the middle of real movie.. but whoa! Once you accept the tone of the film, the character and most importantly, The Hulk... you're in there.

Note: not for little kids. Its too long, complicated and intense.

Since Ang Lee is behind it I might give it a chance. But I really don´t like the looks of that computer generated Hulk. Movies should be movies, not computer games.

well , I was actually gonna make a new thread : "Hulk - my comments, thoughts BEFORE seeing the film" ... but then I saw this thread ... and decided to comment here ...

first off - I so TOO expect this movie to suck ... i am gonna go out on a limb here (would be farther out on a limb if the movie didnt just open and i had seen headlines for 2 or 3 movie reviews - did NOT read them yet ...) - but is it just me - or ... i think this movie is gonna suck ... my thoughts -

1- I saw the trailor ... and was not impressed at all ... of course ... the computer generated thing isnt the only let-down for me ... i realize the director probably had no choice with it ... when u think about it ... see some more later comments ... but ... Nick Nolte ... hmmm... interesting ... obviously ... they had to get some big names and it might have a plot !!??

2- the Hulk story , etc ... for all you comic book geeks /fans ...(and I have been one over the years) ... the Hulk storyline and concept never appealed to me ... maybe cause the "inner rage" concept didnt take hold ... or what ... BUT ... most of you may or may not know - but the Hulk is supposedly the STRONGEST CHARACTOR in the marvel universe (superman is in the DC universe) and so - he really has never had a challenge ... for a fight... sooo where does this storyline gooo!!?? probably no where ... i guess you can concentrate on the "temper" and his relationship with his father (Nick Nolte) ... etc ... but for me ... this movie spells "D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R ... some of the comics are not that way --- spiderman for one ... has some awesome criminals ... and some good stories ... so does Daredevil (I personally thought that movie was gonna be a much better one - altho i did not see it ... i thought it had real possibilities ) ... the X-men always had a good plot and good charactors (maybe too many to transform into a big movie - but the director(Singer) did a great job with this genre and cut the X-men down into a much smaller group ... in short- the plot concerns me without even seeing the movie ... and the first and only review header i saw - implied that also ...

3- the choice of Ang Lee ... while he is (i believe) known for shoot em up and explosions ... i basically believe the plot will not be there (given the choice of using him as a director ... ) In short , i am not an Ang Lee fan ... so i am not an expert in the man ... but ... i was disappointed by the choice ...

4- none ... lol ... i just had to say those ... and say also that i do wish the genre and the HULK success at the box office ... i just hope the movie is better than i predict ... perhaps i can add my review after i see it .. and this thread will be better ... but just wanted to throw some quick thoughts out ...

I won't give any of the film away but I have never been surrounded by so many disappointed people in my many, amny viewings of movies. My opinion is that it sucks ass.

Boy there sure is a lot of hype and marketing surrounding this movie...it actually bothers me somewhat that it appears to suck so horribly. It's embarrassing in a metaphysical sort of way.

actually i watched the news a bit ago, and there wuz some movie critic and he did a review of the movie...he gave it 5 stars out of a possible 10.

I was going 2 go 2 the movies tonight with my hubby and watch the hulk but i thought it would be stupid.I guess i shouldn't judge a movie until i see it.

The cartoon used 2 shit me up rotten. He were a right scary, mean bastard.

I usually don't pay attention to reviews and all the hype. Im only in it because i like comic books and Ang Lee is a great director. Thats all i need. I saw the movie and it was great!

I think the key to watching this movie is allowing yourself to be taken in my the moment.. allow yourself to watch a pop up comic book on screen.'

once i surrendered to that train of thought, i was engrossed and fully into the movie. otherwise i would be nitpicking it every step of the way.

props to Purple Jedi ... i really didnt know ... Ang Lee did all of those ... although I have to admit ... i hadnt seen any of em ... (yeah ... i know ... especially since "...hidden dragon" has been on alll the time lately andit looked interestin ... thats the negative of having a 3 yr old that wont go to sleep by 10!!!)... i also have seen that "Sense..." has been on alot lately ... apologies ... my bad ...

I do agree with the people who said that u have to go into a movie in the right frame of mind ... many a movie with the 2 stars (which is supposed to be middle of the road) rating by alot of the critics ... and they go onto being some of my fav movies of all time ...

Man...you HAVE to see Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. It's a really good movie. If you rent the DVD, watch it with the subtitles first, so that the mismatched mouthing in the translated version doesn't spoil it for you.

...and I DIDN'T get to see HULK this weekend...that's the negative of having a 5 year-old, a 3 year-old and a 1 ½ year-old with no one to babysit
