I just spent 11 consecutive hours watching this series on
dvd. And I have to say, it still is my fav thing to have
ever come off the television, ever. First time I saw it
was around 1986, 10 years after it's initial release. And
although I read Graves' books several times I never quite
got those wonderful images of the series back.

Until I finally stumbled across the dvd box. It seems to
have been out for about 2 years now. But since I hardly
ever buy anything on dvd I didn't know.

Did anyone happen to catch this when it was premiered on
tv back in 1976 ? It must have been quite the thing back
then.

The actors are masterfully cast. Especially Claudius,
Livia and Caligula.

After 11 hours, my dvd player groaned and almost melted,
and I was just sorry the whole thing was finished. Damn.
