On a serious note

I have a friend who was a wintess to the last bombing in Jerusalem.
He didn't see the explosion, but he saw all the bodies and all the body parts. The blood, the burning bus, the people who were in shock and the screams and panic of the people around.

Even though these kinds of acts is not unusual in Jerusalem, it's the first time he wintesses it up close and since then he's been having problems sleeping and when he does finally sleep, he has terrible nightmares.

I'm posting this first of all to let him know he's not alone, and also to try and search for a way to help him get rid of these nightmares. So if anyone has a good suggestion, or has some sort of experience in this, please share.

Thanks,
Keren

This is sad! I can't imagine it will be easy for him to rid his mind of such tragedy... Give him time, and support.

A therapist is good about now..

My friend, actually she was Luvzion here... Is in Israel as we speak...

Peace out girly! Be safe.

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, it means you've decided to look beyond the imperfections... unknown

I've never been witness to something like this and hope never to be, but I know what it feels like to have things on your mind and not be able to sleep or what not.

Dear please by all means get him to go to a therapist pronto for his own good, go along with him for comfort and make him put his ego aside if he has a big ego of course.

Things like this affect different people in different ways and that could very well lead to other problems if he doesn't get help.

ThreadBare

I know someone whose work took him over there and who has been close to bombings, as well.

In fact, we were talking on the telephone about the first such explosion (this might have been the attack on the Sbarro eatery), when a second bomb exploded -- likely designed to wound emergency-response personnel. Understandably, he was shaken.

It seems that the people of Israel have had to occupy a mental/emotional limbo: resolving to continue to live undeterred by terrorism but steeling for the possibility that a trip to the market might prove tragic. It seems to be the only way they can continue to function. And, it seems eerily, tragically similar to the mindset Americans have had to adopt since Sept. 11, 2001. You keep on living.

Well, I'm not near him now, so I can't watch him and all I can do is keep in touch through the internet.
He doesn't have a large ego at all. He's one of the greatest souls I've come to know. But I'm not sure if he'll go to a therapyst. His family had a lot of sorrow and pain in the past few years and he does not want to add more to it by letting them know he's in pain.
