Is anyone here adopted?

I am. And I must say that although I love my adoptive family it leaves me feeling totally alienated. Having no blood relatives around with which I could have something in common with, ie; looks/mannerisms/personality makes me feel somewhat out in the cold. But I shouldn't complain because it gives me a feeling of true individuality.

I am and I have noticed that the whole family connection thing didn't work for me once I got past mom and dad. I "adopted" others as my family and made them cousins, sisters and brothers, grandparents etc...When I had my babies I felt they were even more precious to me because they are truly a part of me.

We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.

I understand. To me the friends I have are more my family because I connect with them much better.

i'm adopted... at one time it used to bother me, but not anymore. i'm here, and i think that everything happens for a reason. i'm not on speaking terms right now with my adopted family though... they basically have told me that they think that i'm not ...oh, how to say this... a perfect "blend" with them and their ideals (whatever that means).

thought about looking for my real parents, but never had to time to. smile

My dad died before I was born which is the reason that I was adopted because my mum was really young and already had a daughter so she believed she wouldn't be able to cope with raising two young children on her own. And although I've had the time to look for my real family I just feel that the family that I have is my 'real' family. I always wonder though how different my life would have been had I not been adopted.

I guess we should be grateful that our folks didn't have us aborted. For that I will always be thankful no matter how alienated I feel.

addition edit.
