These Fucking Pop Up Ads Are Driving Me NUTS!!! (help me!) It's true... it's true.
Nowadays, whenever I sign on, about a gazillion pop up ads rock my computer tower to almost toppling over! Is there a safe, legal and FREE way to rid my poor little computer of these parasites? Lemme know. |

I use "pop-up stopper" at work... it works like a charm.
You can also use Netscape or Mozilla... they will both cure the problem. SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com

To remove spyware which could be popping up ads on your computer use Ad-Aware.
To block pop up ads from web pages, I'd recommend Meaya PopUp Ad Filter. It has a few more options and features than the freeware popup stoppers, so you don't accidentally block legit windows that need to be open on some web sites. To block those grey messenger popups you need to turn off Windows messenger service. Its not the same as Windows Messenger, its a service within windows thats used (i believe) to display error messages, But spammers are exploiting it and using it to send spam. All they need is your IP and they can easily send you them. If you're running programs like Kazaa, you probabbly got a ton of spyware on your computer. There's Kazaa Lite that is available on the web for free too without the spyware.

Ad-aware is good, but may not find everything; another one is spybot (also free) but you gotta be careful with spybot; you CAN damage your registry, if you dunno what you're doing (default options is safe though)
For pop-ups during browsing : I myself use the Opera-browser; it's free, it's fast and you'll have the choice of allowing, refusing or allow only requested pop-ups as a built in option ! (the downside being that it doesn't load 100% of web-pages correctly). Go try some June7, my fav censuskeeper You don't scare me; i got kids

Well, I just downloaded ad-aware, and it cleaned my computer of the current ad software on my computer (almost 200 items!!!) but, to prevent the pop up ads from appearing while I browse, I need to purchase their more professional software...(just what I was trying to avoid).
I may give Opera-browser a try, Alf... do you have a link? |

As I was saying... Netscape, Mozilla and Safari will all block pop-ups for you.
You can use any of them... Safari is Mac only though. SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com

Yeah... I remember one time I downloaded this stop-ad software, and then I was unable to view any personal profiles, or orgnote anyone here... You have to hold down a command key when you click on some links if you are using a pop-up blocker. SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com

Yeah, I downloaded Mozilla... it's cool. The browser isn't bad either. Now, how do I get all my "favorites" from IE into the Bookmark section of Mozilla?
I'm gonna have to play with this for awhile... Thanks Ice... |
