RIP David Lynch

I was sad to hear about the passing of David Lynch last week. Admittedly, of all the things he's done I've only actually seen Twin Peaks but that show blew me away. And it's influence can be felt in shows like Lost, The X-Files, and pretty much every other weird mystery show since. Not just television either. The Wayward Pines book trilogy has a very similar setup and is clearly influenced heavily by Twin Peaks. The videogame Deadly Premonition and it's sequel are practically adaptations of Twin Peaks. Seriously, I'm surprised they didn't get sued for it lol . Even the locations are the exact same.

It just goes to show how great that show was that it's influence can be felt 35 years later in everything from books, TV shows and all the way to Japanese videogames.

I plan to get fully invested in some of David Lynch's movies but does anyone have any advice on where to start? Or should I just watch them all in order of release?

If you have a movie evening, I think pairing Wild at Heart and Lost Highway would be a cool pairing.

Elephant Man and Eraserhead would be a cool duo to watch or Blue Velvet and Inland Empire.

All films should stand alone, so I don't think you can go wrong.

A wholesome film (produced by Disney or Buena Vista) is the based on a true story family drama is the Straight Story.

Mullholland Drive would be a nice one to save for later.

He has done some amazing short films too.

Let us know how you go with the films.......

Nice. Exactly what I was looking for, thanks. Also, why didn't I know he directed Elephant Man? I know of the movie but I never knew he directed it. Weird.

Eraserhead is one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen... lol

Prince was on record from a couple of bandmates that he really like Eraserhead by David Lynch when it came out.
