Advice On a New TV I've finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a new television but I'm not the most technologically savvy person in the world so I was wondering if anyone here could maybe point me in the right direction. I've done a little bit of research online but a lot of "reviews" come across as paid advertisements so it's hard to get an honest opinion. The TV I have that I'm getting rid of is an LG OLED. I only have it 4 years but for the last 3 years it's had some pretty severe burn in on the screen and I've reached the point where I'm just sick of it. So I'm going to avoid OLED TVs in future. My budget is around €1,500. I can't go much over that and to be honest, I'd rather go well below it if I can. But I want something that's really good quality that will last so I expect to pay pretty close to my max budget. My last TV is 55" so I'm looking for another one that size or bigger. Maybe as big as 65". So if anyone has any recommendations or advice, I'd be super grateful. Thanks. | |

Make sure you have a good quality sound bar or alike - Even if you cannot make it picture perfect, you can make it sound better. |

I can barely afford the TV at the moment so the sound bar will have to wait. Although depending on how much I spend, I might be able to stretch for the sound bar. Maybe the sales guy will feel sorry for me and give me a good deal  This is definitely permanent burn in. And not only that but the whole screen has degraded to such a degree that the colours look off. The Simpsons look green, for example. And the very centre of the screen is noticeably darker than around the edges. | |

How did it get the burn-in-screen? It had burn-in-screen for 3 of the 4 years you've owned it? [Edited 8/7/23 3:14am] |

From reading about it online I understand that it happens from leaving a static image on the screen for a long time. Like the news ticker on a news channel or something like that. But I've never done that. Not for any extended period anyway. But I still have like a dark shadow running across the whole bottom of my screen which matches up with where the news ticker is on Sky News. There's also a permanent Nickelodeon logo burned into the bottom right corner. And it seems like it's getting worse as time goes on because I was watching the Australia vs Denmark match earlier and there is still a shadow of scoreline in the top left corner of the screen. But that match was hours ago. | |

I googled your old TV and says that it's more prone to burn-in than other TVs, so you should be good wherever, just don't leave it on Nick or Sky News super duper long. |

The funny thing is that I don't really watch much television and I watch even less news so I don't understand how the sky News thing happened. Nickelodeon does be on quite a bit in my house though. Less so these days now that I'm living on my own with the boy. So hopefully it won't happen again. The tv I'm looking at getting next is a Samsung QLED TV. The reviews are pretty good so I'm almost positive that will be the one. | |

I bought one. The Samsung QN90B. I have a few hundred left over for a sound bar too so I'll spend the next week or so debating which one is the best within my price range but other than that, this nightmare is finally over. Now all that remains is setting it up once it arrives. I'm going to need help with that too but that's a bridge I'll cross when I come to it. Maybe I can get one of the neighbours to help.
