What is your earliest memory? So when I was 6 years old I was involved in a bad car accident.I don't remember the accident itself but here is what I was told.
Me,my father, and mother were coming back from the store and a herd of horses ran out in front of us. Mom was ok,dad is a little banged up but I was the worse I was transported via a helicopter then to a hospital for a few weeks My preacher was so nice she stayed with me at nights and this was for a few weeks I believe (she was a raging alcoholic from what I was told) I was no expected to make it I think this accident somehow affected my memory for the better Because even now at 30 I can still remember things should easily be forgotten Like phone numbers from friends that I use to call in elementary school Curious as to what is your earliest memory? Mine is my grandfather teaching me my ABC's shortly before he would cook hot dogs and chop them up into little bitty pieces He was the only person I knew who would do his hot dogs like that [Edited 3/1/23 6:40am]

I don't think I can pinpoint the earliest memory because I'm not sure which came first. One of the earliest memories I have is getting a big blue Barbie aeroplane for Christmas. I guess I was about 3 years old because it was before I started school. I actually think I still have that plane at home somewhere. It's in bits now though

I have a bunch of early memories but I honestly can't say which is the 1st. Today this is front and center.
Standing at the bottom of a pool seeing my dad's feet coming towards me. See what happened was my dad, while being home for a short time with the navy wanted to start teaching me to swim. He took me to the pool on the military base family pool. Um, I only remember snapshots of images but uh, there were kids sliding down this slide into the pool, on the deep end of course. And I wanted to do what the other kids were doing, so uh, I have zero memory of what exactly happened but given me knowing me I can pretty much piece it together. I do remember dad saying wait here, next thing I knew I was standing at the bottom of the pool, perplexed, like I magically appeared there. I do know we left after that and never went back. He later told me about what he remembered many years later. He went to get some sodas and when he was on his way back he saw me sliding down the slide. And I guess he sprung it to action because he was right there before I really had time to figure out I was in major trouble. He was so scared, pissed and embarrassed. I feel so bad about it. I really was kind of an impulsive child. But eventually I learned to swim, he put me in classes. We survived, y'all. [Edited 3/1/23 14:58pm] Time keeps on slipping into the future...

It was like the intro to ALF kind of shaky cam view coming in and out of the crib at an Aunt's house.

Dude I think remembering phone numbers from childhood is just a human thing. My sister & I were just talking about this. & I'm way older than you. You know how people with Alzheimer's remember stuff from 50 years ago but not 50 seconds ago? Yeah you're getting old, it's perfectly normal. I remember my high school combination lock number for no reason. Stuff just imprints on you that you'll never forget. Anyway, I can remember being in a crib at the foot of my parents' bed. As a toddler, not a baby.

My earliest memory was when I was around 2 -3 years old... Listening to a programme on the radio in the kitchen while my mum was looking after my baby sister. The intro of the show was a trumpet and it came on every evening. I always imagined it was my dad playing that trumpet.
Edit: Found it !

[Edited 3/3/23 6:20am] Cool. Did your dad play the trumpet otherwise?
